widget's x-rays 3 Attachment(s) These are the x-rays they took of Widget on Monday. He had legg perthes and had surgery on the hip that was the worst and he started having difficulty with his other hip so decided it was time to check his other hip. The vet said he has more problems than his hip. Both his knees are a grade 4 LP and his bones are bowed. Don't know how well these x-rays will post but you can see the arthritis in his hip socket and his knees should be sitting on his femur in the middle instead they are both almost off the femur bone? The only thing they think can be done is for him to loose weight and offer pain medicine. He is on Dasuquin and they gave me Metacam for the pain. Any suggestions? Poor little guy. His xrays look painful. I'm sorry I don't have any advice to give you. I just hope you can find a way to make him more comfortable. |
I'm sorry to hear this news about your dear Widget... have you taken him for a second opinion from a vet that practices V.O.M., or even a chiropractor might be able to help him.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...lasia-etc.html I hope you can find a way to help him.... Hugs.. |
poor poor little man, we send our love and thoughts to you and him:animal-pa |
My Bijou is similarly affected. She has twisted femurs. There's no fix for her and managing is all we can do. We try to keep her weight down, give her frequent massages and give her doggie aspirin when her joints are feverish. The massages are very important as any chronic skeletal issue will cause other problems. The tendons in Bijou's rear legs tense up easily and need to be kept loosened by massaging. She also tends to carry more weight on her front legs and has over-developed forelegs due to this. They get tense as does her neck so we massage that area, too. Really she gets a full massage as everything gets out of alignment....shoulders, back, neck, legs. We only give her the aspirin when her joints feel feverish. She likes the Foster & Smith aspirin and will just eat it. I found this online. It shows the same views and is a good comparison. Imaging Anatomy: Canine Hindlimb Femur Example 5 |
Thanks for the support and responces. Widget was born 7/08 so he is still very young for all of this stuff. Jim, thanks for the link. How old is your dog that has this. How soon did you know there was a problem? |
