Red Spot On Iris of Eye Hi All, I've been a lurker of this forum for a few months now, in anticipation of getting our first addition to the family Lacie! Lacie had her first set of shots at the vet yesterday. Today, I went to work and returned home to find that she has a red spot on the iris of her right eye, at the verrrrrrry top. It's so far up, that I can only (rarely) see it when Lacie looks to her right. Of course, I went into full panic mode and started googling everything I could. I've read that this could be related to the vaccinations, or it could be a popped vessel. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to call the vet tomorrow morning when they are open, but am really just looking for my fellow forum'ers to put my mind at ease :( Help! |
I forgot to add that the eye does not seem to bothering her at all. She's showing no sign of pain or discomfort. |
If it is tiny and hard to see, it is probably nothing to be alarmed about tonight. I would just call the vet in the morning as you have planned. Let us know tomorrow what you find out. Welcome to YT :) |
Thanks LJ, I think I'll be able to sleep somewhat more easily....I'll just be so anxious to get up and have a look at her eye lol. |
Hopefully it is nothing. As long as it is not looking awful, I would wait until tomorrow. Usually with an eye ulcer there is some discomfort and blinking. But...definitely call the vet no matter what. Better safe than sorry. |
Well, I called Lacie's regular vet who is not in today. Since she isn't exhibiting any pain/discomfort/ or loss of sight, we decided to wait to hear from our regular vet tomorrow, rather than taking her in to see the on-call vet. The spot is no longer the bright red that it was last night. It seems a little brownish. |
Thanks for updating. Glad it looks better today. Perhaps by tomorrow it will be gone! :) |
