after the broken leg? i wondered if anyone else had any experience with their yorkie/dog breaking a leg and it did it still cause problems sometimes for the pup? bella femur was broken at 4 months old, she had a pin inserted and removed a month or so later...i think the pin was removed aug 31st..then some more recovery time .. she is a high energy pup bouncing and jumping off/on things constantly..she wiggles all the time she is a very happy puppy. well yesterday morning i let her out the crate in to go potty and she is holding her repaired leg up and wont put any weight on it...ugh! i can pull it straight like the vet showed me when she was healing and no crying no jerking( she she is yelper over ANYTHING)...she is still hyper...yesterday she stayed in her crate voluntarily for a while which is unlike her...but im keeping her confined until we get to the vet this evening im really nervous about what could be wrong..really dont want to go through another major expense..i was hoping it was the cold temps out side causing some achiness..but she hasnt let up on that leg once..so i guess not..nothing feels broken too me but im not a vet anyone have anything similar happen? |
Oh I am so sorry about this. I hope she is ok and it is nothing serious. Maybe someone who knows more about this stuff will be of some help. I am sending you prayers. |
I would have her seen by the vet as the leg could be re injured. I had a puppy break a leg at 3 months old and once healed never showed another sign of injury again. |
thanks..we are going this afternoon..i wonder with her bouncy personality did she flip on it and turn the wrong way and its just really sore.. |
This happened to my Tulip...she jumped off our sofa....then started limping...she refused to eat or even walk that night!! So we gave her 10 mg. per pound (she's 4 lbs..so we gave her 40 mg. of low dose aspirin crushed..in a piece of turkey) ( can be given twice a day)...and put her on a heating pad...low heat....and by morning she was back to her old self..not limping one bit...eating and playing!! Thank goodness! Hopefully it's not serious! Please keep us updated! |
thank you the vet asked me not to give her any meds so it wouldnt mask any injuries |
If the vet finds no problems...ignore her when she limps...I had one limp when she saw me and I made such a fuss over her...then she would run in the yard like a race horse...Yorkies are terrific "people users"...LOL They love all attention. |
we had a shetlie growing up that had the sympathy limp..lol i dont think this is her problem...though since my husbands truck has no heat to defrost the ice he took mine this morning and is still not back so i talk to bellas drs and nurse... they dont think its major damage because it was just this summer that it was healed with the pin and so forth..but that to keep her pinned up until i can get there...so im trying again tomorrow...when i let her out she zooms around the house on 3 legs...so i dont know what her deal is...i can tomorrow will tell..and he said aspin was bad for yorkies..so no pain meds.. i love the vets there..they are the absolute best..they make me cry because they are so nice and so compassionate! |

yeah me too...but then it might be like kids..you teach them to talk and spend the next 18 years telling them HUSH!! |
One of my little schnauzers bounced the other one off the bed when they were playing and she broke her leg in 2 places. She was put in a cast and the vet left it on for a couple of weeks longer than usual to make sure everything was okay. She did fine up until now, she is going on 14 and that was when she was about 3 mo. old. She takes a supplement for her bones because sometimes its hard for her to get around. But all in all she did fine. After the cast was taken off she would still hold her leg up not realizing it was off. It was funny to see her run and still hold it up. Then she found out it was off and did great. Hope your baby is going to be okay. |
I hope your little girl's leg is ok. Let us know what you find out. |
turns out..her knee was out..luxtating patella |
I hope she is felling better soon! |
