Fervent prayers needed for Apple I've been so stressed, I haven't even wanted to post about Apple having Hemorrahgic Gastroenteritis (HGE)...It started last Sunday, and she was in the hospital w/IV fluids, on Monday...She did pretty well, for about 5 days, then hand a bloody/mucus coated stool, yesterday, but no puddles of blood, so I took her back to the vet...She was well hydrated, and seemed to feel o.k., so we came home...This morning, he threw up all her food (Hills RX ID) and had a major bleed from the rectum...I'm getting ready to take her to the ER, and I'm calling on praying YT mamas to fervently pray for her...This is the first event where she has thrown up the RX ID, so I'm not sure what the plan will be now?...I believe in the power of prayer, and I'm thanking you, so much, for prayers for my little Apple... |
I'll keep you and Apple in my prayers and thoughts.... I'm sure she'll be feeling better soon.... Hugs, Kathy |
Sending YT prayers for Apple to get better soon. Sending hugs to mom for all the stress associated with a sick baby. Please update when you get back from the vet...good luck. |
Oh Maggie, I am so sorry Apple is going through this. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to both of you. Sending a big hug as well. |

Oh my gosh, I am just now reading your post and it reminds me of what happened with my little male the last few months. He had episodes of what you were describing, of what we thought were HGE, and treating him as such with IV's, Hills ID, etc., but these "episodes" were becoming more frequent. I had him on Natures Variety in the beginning, then Stella and Chewys and still don't know if this had anything to do with it...anyway, after trying all sorts of treatments with my local vet, who I love, we decided to make a visit to Texas A&M Veterinary School of Medicine to see a specialist, to try to find the real problem. They did an ultrasound and all sorts of other tests, which showed nothing, but decided to try him on a new food / antibiotic regime and he has now gone since December 1 without a single problem. They put him on Royal Canine HP (Hypo allergenic food), Tylosin powder in capsules 2x per day, Baytril, Metamucil sprinkled on his food, and absolutly no treats or any other food at all - not even pill pockets to take his meds with. He also gets a Vit B 12 shot weekly....it has worked. We are supposed to check in with the A&M vet next week and will see if they will continue this course, but I will tell you prior to this, I had one sick little baby. We had the bloody, mucusy stools and vomiting...his episodes were becoming more and more frequent. He is now perfectly fine and doing great...and he loves his new food! They gave me a list of 2-3 to try, but the RC HP he liked. I guess it was all just a severe food alergy that had the bacteria growing and building up in his gut, if that makes sense. My local vet admitted it all made sense, she never thought about it becasue it was so simple...I have no idea if this can be the case with Apple, but I thought I'd throw it out there "just in case" - my prayers are with you and your baby... |
Going to A&M is a wise idea if symptoms continue! I have always been pleased with them. It is a bit of a hike, but well worth it. |
I am sending prayers for you and Apple. I believe in prayers too! |
Sending lots of prayers your way!!1 So sorry you are going through this. Hugs to you and Apple. |
I am praying hard for Apple. Lolasmom has some other things you can look into at the Vet School so at least there is another source you can go to. Hugs to you and your little one. |
