squishy bump/giardia topic Hello yorkietalk, so i've been treating lotus for giardia for the past 8 days, within the first couple of days she was having diarhea..then when i started the treatment her stool was firm again..until today! (i'm not finished with the antibiotics..) but she had diarrhea today..is that something that normally happens while treating giardia..the dog will sometimes randomly get diarrhea another thing i noticed while petting her yesterday..i found a squishy lump/bump thing on her back kinda right by her shoulder.. i called the vet today..and they said they will check the lump out when i take her back to get her stool rechecked.. but i'm just wondering ifa nyone else has had this "squishy" bump like thing. |
Has Lotus had any vaccinations or shots recently? Is the squishy bump on the shoulder or between the shoulder blades? Definitely have the vet take a look. How is crate training going and how are things generally? I hope things are improving for you and your pup. Stress can affect these little ones in big ways. |

as for the crate training, its going well! She likes sleeping in there..and I dont have to worry about her chewing things up. Once in awhile she will ahve an accident in there, but I am trying to prevent that by taking her out more. Do you know if the diarrhea thing is strange? I'm on the 8th day of antibiotcis for giardia..and she all the sudden has diarrhea today. oh..and she's becoming bit of a picky eater. i usually feed raw(stella and chewys) with a mixture of kibble. then during the evening or other feeding times i will feed her the kibble. this morning she only ate the raw and not the kibble!!! |
I don't have experience with giardia and my knowledge of it is limited. Wait and see if the next poop is firm. A number of things can cause a loose stool every once in awhile. I wouldn't worry too much about not eating the kibble. Could be that she just preferred the Stella & Chewy's today. That may also have contributed to the loose stool. Continue to monitor these changes and discuss with your vet when you go in for the follow up exam. I'm happy for you that crate training is going well and that she likes her crate. |
