Lucy ate chocolate! Lucy ate chocolate today and threw up all over her new cupcake blanket! I didn't figure it out until about an hour ago. My Dad said he saw both her and Ringo chewing on some 'metal foil'. I didn't think too much about it because Lucy chews everything. Q tips; cotton balls - you name it. Then Matt and I went to the store and I found brown vomit on her bed and blanket that had been there for a while. Matt looked behind the couch and there were two empty wrappers of Dove milk chocolate pieces. Freaked out and called the ER vet. He calculated out the amount she ate and her weight and said it was good that she vomited and not enough to be toxic but to keep an eye on her. I'm pretty sure she was the sole culprit. She seems fine; ate dinner, etc but she is going to send me to an early grave!:aimeeyork Matt says she must have got up on the kitchen counter (it kind of hangs over the couch) but I'm thinking that Matt must have had a few pieces and possibly dropped it behind the couch. Ugh. |
So Lucy is fine and the blanket is stained! :D Seriously, so glad that little Lucy is ok! :) |
I am glad Lucy is acting fine. Probably good that she threw up but to bad it was on her new blanket. |
Well Lucy is fine this morning and the blanket is in the washer; so hopefully we'll all be as good as new. It's a good thing she's so darn cute! |
I'm so happy Lucy is okay! My father likes to throw back M&Ms and I'm always afraid one or more is going to end up on the floor...and you know how quick these little ones can be in scooping things up. |
Thank goodness she is ok! What a scare.:( |
At least she threw up! One time at my mother's house, Barney got a mouthful of hershey's kisses and although he was able to swallow at least 1 or 2 of them wrapper and all, I got the rest out of his mouth. I have the scars to prove it!! just kidding but he did put up the fight of his life! |

My couin's mother in law's yellow lab ate a whole box of liquor filled chocolates awhile back and so far there are no after effects. |

Yes, thank you ~ all is well. Even the cupcake blanket which washed up just fine :) |
Thank goodness Lucy is okay... |
Glad she's ok!!! These little ones sure can make our heart race!!! |
Im so glad that Lucy is okay. I'm telling you Yorkies will give you a nervous breakdown but it is well deserved because they are just the greatest pets. |
I am so glad that Lucy is ok. Sending up prayers of thanksgiving for Lucy's lucky break. Isn't it amazing how a bit of throwup can be such welcome news? |
Here's what I read, and maybe it's wrong. Dogs love chocolate, so when they eat one they are going to want more and that's when it gets toxic. Not to worry if your dog eats one M&M, which a lot of people panic over, but if there are more M&Ms around after the first they will crave more. My little guy chews everything, too, and often I'm also looking at a wrapper wondering what the heck was in it. I keep the chocolate higher than he can reach, and never leave it where he can. I like M&Ms, and if I'm eating some, I never turn my back on them or the dog. :aimeeyork |
Glad your little Lucy is doing ok! My dog Kiah, as a youngster, ate a WHOLE pan of brownies. She jumped right up on the counter, of course she is HUGE, and just stood there and ate the whole darned pan. Didn't hardly leave a crumb in the pan. (Didn't realize it until I went in the kitchen an hour later and found an empty cake pan on the counter, and realized the brownies were gone, minutes after had a dog throwing up all OVER.) She vomited for 12 hours, woke my vet at midnight to take a look at her, she was fine after that. Scary stuff!! |
