Maybe I am over reacting Rosie went to the emergency vet last weekend. He put her on Clavimox. Said it was probably a viral infection. Her white blood count was low and thought she might be stressed. Now for the last two days I am noticing that she is twitching but only when she is resting. She will lay on my lap and twitch. It is almost like a small jerk but then she stops. In a few minutes she will do it again. She is eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, playing. She seems a little nervous when there is any noise going on. I am going to call the vet tomorrow morning. Until then, has anyone seen this before? My husband thinks it could be from the antibiotic. But I don't know. I have been a little concerned that this could be a sign of seizures. But I have no experience with that. Any suggestions of what this could be? I have researched seizures, liver shunt, etc. I have just confused myself. Any help would be appreciated. |
It could be a side effect from the medicine. Years ago my beagle was taking an antibiotic for an infection and he was walking funny like he couldn't stand up. We looked up the medicine in a prescription book and that was one of the side effects-weakness of the extremities. So I took him back to the vet along with the book and showed it to the vet and they changed his medicine. See if you can look up the side effects of the antibiotic and see if it's a side effect. Good Luck!! |

My girlfriend's Westie went to the vet and got some drops put in his eyes. He had a reaction to them, and the vet confirmed it. The vet felt so bad about what had happened that he did all the followups for free. :D I would definitely check back with the vet, but keep in mind that small dogs do tend to react to meds more than bigger breeds. Keep us posted on the outcome. |
It is possible for a dog to have an allergy to this medicine. |
Talked to vet today. He does not seem to think I need to worry about anything. I think he thinks I am a little nervous right now. But this is my baby. So, he basically said stop worrying and bring her in if you want to. I guess I will try to calm down a little. Maybe I am stressing her out!! Thanks for the advice and support! You guys are the best! |

Glad to hear the vet doesn't think there is a need to be concerned. Might I recommend some hot cocoa or tea to help you relax? |

Boy do I need it! I am driving my family crazy. I just can't help it. I love her so much. I never dreamed in a million years this furbaby would steal my heart forever. I am so attached it is not even funny. My husband said he wishes I loved him as much as I love my dog. :p I have it bad!! |
Been reading this post. Can you give us an update? |
dreaming? Could it just be dreaming? Mine will sometimes have leg twitches that seem to be related to exciting running dreams. Just a thought. |
