Update on Rosie
 
Ok, after last night things went from bad to worse. The shaking continued and she stayed almost lifeless. We ended up at the emergency animal clinic. They did blood work and her white blood count is off. They said she was stressed and has an infection. They treated her by giving her an antibiotic injection and an oral antibiotic. I am to take her to my vet on Tuesday for a follow up.

My baby is so sick. I hate seeing her like this. It has been a rough night for both of us.

Thank you so much. We are having a rough time. But she did eat which is an improvement. Thanks for the hugs and prayers.

They think it is an infection. Her white blood count was low which is usually viral he said. My vet will get the results tomorrow. I will feel better once I hear from him. Yeah, I saw you said an infection. I just wondered if they pinned it down more. So, if it's viral, that explains a bit more to me.:rolleyes: Let me know if Rosie is doing any better after getting the shot. I understand what you mean when you say you wish they could tell us what is wrong when they get sick. I've wished that more times than I could count. I hope she starts feeling better by tonight.

Never thought I would be so glad to hear my baby bark!!! :D She is moving around a bit now and growling and barking. I think we are heading down the right path! She is now drinking! But still no potty as of right now. That is our last hurdle. If we can get there we will have this beat!

I how awful..I hate when they are sick. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and she will feel better.

Ok we are so much better it is not funny. She is now eating and drinking on her own. And she even went potty. It is like night and day. They gave her antibiotics through the IV and oral also. I think the IV really helped her recovery. I can't believe how much better she is. She is still sleepy but more like herself now. :)

I have been giving her boiled chicken. I think I will continue with that more and cut down on the canned dog food. Is that ok to do?

I think it would be fine. I'm so happy to hear she's feeling much better. I was hoping she'd start feeling better by tonight. It's so awful when they're sick. Maybe you can both have a good night's sleep tonight.:)

An accepted bland diet is chicken (no fat or skin or bones) and plain white rice (1:1), (No brown rice as it is too hard for them to digest) She could stay on that for a week... you may want to discuss her diet with your vet though... they should accept a call-in since you've been there recently...

Thanks all!! I love the support everyone here shows. We didn't get much sleep last night but I think tonight will be better. I can't believe the major improvement in her. I am so glad! Thanks for the info on the chicken. She sure liked it. A lot!!

Rhondah thank you for being there through it all for me. Your support was wonderful and I really needed it!

Just read this, so sorry little Rosie was sick. I know it is so scary, but I'm so thrilled she is doing better. You're such a good mommy! She's a lucky little girl!

Thanks all. My regular vet called today. He is concerned about her white blood cell count. It was low and he didn't like that. We have to go back in two weeks to make sure all is well. I have really been stressed out about this. This is my baby and it will be devastating if it is something else. I am glad that he is being careful. They called me first thing this morning. But now I have two more weeks of worry.

She is doing much better. That gives me hope that it is just an infection. I pray that is all it is. I will keep everyone updated.

If anyone else has dealt with this I would appreciate any information. Thanks again everyone.
