Pancreatitis - need advice! My son's dogs has had pancreatitis in the past and has had to have an IV, antibiotics, etc... He accidentally just got into some cookies a few minutes ago that had butter & nuts - although he got a very small amount, is there anything other than watching him for obvious signs that we can do to head off another bout of possible pancreatitis???? Thank you! |

I induce vomiting also with Ellie. Just depends on what she got and how much. The dose is 1 tsp. per 10 lb. A 1/2 tsp. makes her throw up about 10 times. Happens within a couple minutes. Too late now though b/c it's been way over an hour. Also, vomiting could be irritating to the GI tract, so it would be best to talk to the pup's vet about doing this first. |
Thank you so much for the replies...talked to the Dr and since we thought he had eaten so little, we decided to "watch and wait"...so far, so good. I think the time we can initially quit worrying (if there is such a thing!) is 4-5 hrs after he ate the cookies...we are almost there. I appreciate the advice and will put it on my "doggy" board in the kitchen...holidays are so tough because not only do you have extra treats in the house, but things get left down accidentally by people that are not used to having to be careful around these babies! |
