Constipation? Rosie had diarrhea on Christmas Eve. We were at my parents and she picked up some food on the floor I think...So we were up every two hours or so with her so she could go poop. Yesterday she seemed constipated and today she passed a small poop but now she has red blood after wards. Is that more then likely tiny tears from straining? Nothing is open today. My vet lives around the corner but she's not home...is there anything I can do? I've given her wet food and lots of water. She turned her nose up at Udo's pet essentials that is full of vegetable product such as flax, sunflower etc. I've never been through anything like this with any of my dogs before. |

I would try to give her a small amount of cooked sweet potato and see if that does help bulk her back up and get things moving. I'd keep trying to reach the vet if she is right around the corner. Keep us posted. |
canned pumkin is what my vet always suggests for my cat or dog when constipated. |
I'm sorry your little one is sick. These little ones have very sensitive stomachs. It doesn't take much to upset their system. It seems when my Betty Boop gets into anything she shouldn't (inside or outside) she gets bloody diarrhea with mucous. Her vet says it causes inflammation of her intestines. The vet gives medicine for it and she gets better. It's so hard to watch them all of the time. So, don't beat yourself up over it. Hopefully, it's nothing serious. Keep watch on the vet's house today. Your baby really needs to be seen. Oh, and I also use canned pumpkin (the plain kind, NOT the pie pilling) for constipation and diarrhea. It's good stuff! |
Our little guy has been struggling with constipation ever since he got over Parvo and Coccidia. Our vet suggested trying canned pumpkin or olive oil mixed with some water twice a day until he can go. Worse case is put some mineral oil in his rectum...hold there for little bit to break up the blockage. We have had to do both oils but haven't tried the pumpkin since my cupboard was bare! Good luck.. |
My vet must be out of town but the office is open today, thank goodness, and we're going in at 4pm to have Rosie checked out. She HATED the pumpkin! I did give her a touch of nutrical just so I don't have to worry about hypoglycemia as well. |
We thought our puppy Oliver was constipated and I read somewhere that you should give a constipated puppy a scrambled egg. We tried it and it worked. He pooped about a hour later. |
I have followed your thread. I hope little Rosie found some relief with no serious probelms. |
