Miles is still doing well. He watches TV and is back to barking at other dogs on the TV -- a terrible habit but a good sign for him. His eye is still sewn shut, and I won't report back until the stitches are out or there is a change. |

They finally took the stitches out of Miles eyelids and the Vet is sending Miles down to a canine opthamalogist tomorrow. The surgery is supposed to take an hour and I hope we can bring him back home tomorrow. That's an 8 hour drive (roundtrip) for us. Wish us luck, and I'll keep you posted. |

We just got back from the opthamologist. The doc is great, and said Miles definitely has a problem but it is healing to a degree. He has two procedures he can do, one is 90 percent for sure, the other is 98 percent for sure. My girlfriend is opting for the 98 percent, and they will need Miles for 4 hours next week. If he keeps improving we may not have to go, but I have a feeling we will. The doc also said this is a normal problem with Westies; nothing happened to him and it wasn't anybody's fault. Can't blame Ruger either, even though he climbs all over Miles. I'll keep you posted. If he does the surgery the recoup time will be a month. |
Thanks for updating! I hope that all goes well for little Miles. :) |

I guess our opthamologist wanted to do some skiing, so he came up from Denver to visit our vet and took another look at Miles. Miles' eye is healing well and he does not need any more surgery. :D He still needs to heal up a bit, and he may have to wear that cone a little longer, but it's all good news. Thanks for all your advice and concern. :aimeeyork |
