Charlie is throwing up and dirrahea I got home last night and Charlie had dirreha very bad and wa throwing up? I carried him to the emergency vet where they gave him fluids and someting to ease his stomach. I am headed back to the vet this morning with him. He still has no energy, won't drink now or eat. Any suggestions to what might be wrong? I'm so worried and on the verge of crying. Need help!!! |
Oh, poor baby, hope he's doing better this AM. |
I'm sorry. Has he eaten anything he normally doesn't eat? I have no idea what it could be. Let us know what the vet says. I hope your lil guy is feeling better soon and able to eat. |
Sorry to hear Charlie is so sick. I don't know what it could be but wouldn't find it too unusual for a dog to not have much of an appetite after being so sick. I think most vets even recommend keeping them off food for a day if they have been vomiting....it's the fluids that are so critical. Hope he is all better today! |
Poor Charlie! I'm glad you are taking him to the vet. Hopefully it is something simple like a stomach bug that a few Yorkies here have had recently, including mine. Keep an eye on his gums to make sure they are still wet and pink, not sticky or dry or pale, which would indicate dehydration. Hope your little guy feels better soon. Let us know what your vet says. |
Hope Charlie is feeling better!! Sending him hugs. |
I hope Charlie stats feeling better soon. Did you switch foods or give him a new treat. I know one of mine gets sick if I change her diet the smallest bit. I will keep him in my thoughts. |
Ok back from the vet. He has put Charlie on 2 antibiotics and said it sounded like either he eat something that he wasn't suppose to or he has a bug. Either way, he has a temp so therefore is where the antibiotics comes in at. He told me to keep him hydrated and if he wasn't better by tomorrow afternoon to bring him back. Thanks for all you good wishes. Oh and he also wants me to get him off Blue Buffalo. He has seen alot of upset tummies and gastro problems because of it here lately. Anyone have any suggestions what else I can put him and Natalie on? |
Glad your vet helped him. Rosie had a similar problem in the past and it too antibiotics to fix her up. We use Wellness and have had no problems with it. Good luck finding one that works for your furbabies. Thanks for sharing the info on Blue Buffalo. |

Hoping Charlie is feeling better. |
Update! Charlie is eating now a little as of this morning. He seems to feel better even though he don't want to play with Natalie. I am still watching him to make sure he is drinking enough. He is getting quiet irritable with me making him drink..even growling at me..hehe. Thanks for all your special thoughts. |
Glad Charlie is feeling a little better. |
Oh, no. Blue Buffalo just had a recall on some of their foods: On October 11, 2010, the company recalled certain production runs of its BLUE Wilderness Chick, Basics Salmon, and Large Breed Adult chicken dry dog foods. The products may contain excessive levels of vitamin D. Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recalled |
Yes I saw that recall but the food that Charlie and Natalie is on was not any of those. I am going to try acana or call of the wild and see how they do on that. I want something that has some wet food also. I still have part of a bag of the Blue Buffalo, so I will get some this weekend. |
