Itchy Butt After Grooming? A day after getting buzzed down Max started insanely licking and biting his bottom. The problem area is red from the irritation of him messing with it. It's not quite on his back-end, but more in the area of where he was neutered a few years ago - between his bottom and privates. Besides putting an e-collar on, what can I do? Has anyone had this issue before? Do you think it's from his extra short haircut? Also, do you think occasionally being exposed to salt outside for the snow could be a problem? |
Sammy used to scoot after being groomed. I guess they get itchy from the buzzer cutting their hair so close. Maybe a little A&D baby ointment would help. |
He's being really crazy about.. like will run full speed down the hallway and stop and drop to the ground to itch. Weird. |
Like Sammy Mommy said it may be because the hair was cut too close. I have had the same reaction when doing the sanitary cut on my 4. A little A&D, or neosporin ought to give him some relief. |
Thank you!! |
Vinnie has always had a problem with this! I finally talked with my groomer about it and she now just scissor cuts it around his butt. Since she started doing that, we've had no issues. |
I have had Maddie acting funny like this after a groom. She acted like she didn't want to sit down. Like others said, A&D should do the trick for you. |
Did the groomer express his anal glands? If she did it too roughly, he could be sore. |
I had the SAME PROBLEM LAST WEEK w/ Dudley. The groomer must of trimmed a little too close.:( A YT member suggested me putting A&D diaper rash creme and Neosporene (one w/ numbing ingredient) i did this application once and it made a world of difference...GOOD LUCK He's back to normal now;) |
Thank you, everyone! If he's not feeling better by tonight I am going to go out and buy some A&D and put the e-collar on for the night to give him some relief :) |
I never had that problem after a haircut. |

I've had that problem with Rhett after he got razor burned. I used a cool hair dryer to give him some relief and put him in a Onsie to keep him from chewing on it. |
