Anal Gland Tumor and Kidney Disease My Coco has been diagnosed with a tumor in her anal gland and has a kidney infection. She is not eating. Giving her three different meds to clear the kidney infection. I am heart broken. |
I'm so sorry, what is the treatment play for the anal gland tumor? Have you spoken to the vet about loss of appetite? I wonder if pain is keeping her from eating? Is she drinking water? Sending prayers your way. |
Poor baby. Sending hugs and kisses for her to feel better soon. |
My sweet little Ashley had an anal tumor that she had removed when she was thirteen. It was painful for her before the surgery, and it was a horrible area to have surgery, so she had pain for a short while afterward, but she did fine once it healed. Another growth returned, but it was small, and it didn't cause a problem for her. She had the surgery when she was thirteen, even with an enlarged heart which made the anesthesia more dangerous. and she lived with a good quality of life after that for almost four years. Even though it was risky with her heart, the tumor would have caused an obstruction for her in time, and we are so glad that Ashley was able to have surgery. I know this isn't the same thing as your Coco has, but it is in the same area, and I wonder if surgery is an option, particularly with her kidney infection. I'm so sorry that your baby is sick, and I really hope that she starts to get better. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. |
Any updates? I hope it all works out and she gets better. Lisaly had a great post, there is a cure. |
So very sorry you and your little one are faced with this. sending good thougts and prayers your way. |
anal gland and kidney infection Thanks to all of you for your caring thoughts. Only people with Yorkie's understand how I feel. My vet is telling me because of her kidney problem, he wouldn't recommend surgery on the anal gland. I am so confused and so upset. I just want her to get better. :( |

I'm so sorry. If it were me I'd want to get a second opinion. Maybe there is a specialist you can take her to? Hugs to the both of you....again, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. |
anal and kidney problems I have not gone for a second opinion. The Bun was 121 and phos was 7.5 and creatine was 1.5. He did an ultrasound. No biopsy. I have been trying to give her anything she will eat, but after talking to my breeder she told me to mix a little chicken baby food with childrens pedialyte and honey and put it in a syringe. This way she will get a little nourishment. She is not happy with all the force feeding and pills. It has been a little challenging. |
I've been thinking about you and your baby. Please don't give up hope. Ashley was still very active, but she got sick a few times (stomach bugs) when she was fifteen and sixteen, and each time she didn't eat for several days. She bounced back each of those times and went back to her normal activity. I know how heartbreaking it is when they are sick and how difficult it is to get food and pills in. I'm hoping today is much brighter for both of you. |
