Yorkie swallowed a monopoly house My 5 month old, 3 lb. yorkie swallowed a monopoly plastic house while my children were playing. I've only had him for 3 months and don't know what I should do. Please help. |
I would call the ER vet to see if you could induce vomiting. You need to call IMMEDIATELY ~! |
If it were my dog, I would go to the nearest 24 hour emergency vet. They may be able to induce vomiting. I would not try it myself at home, and I would not risk a bowl obstruction and surgery. |
Are you sure he swallowed it? I'm not sure, but I don't think vomiting would make it come back up. I agree with calling the Emergency vet, maybe he'll poop it out. I think the ER Vet would do xrays to see if it's really in the stomach. Good luck. keep us updated. |
I always call my vet over things like this, and I hope you develop a phone relationship with your vet. My guess is that the vet will tell you things to look for, and tell you NOT to induce vomiting. Vomiting could mean the dog might choke on the house. I've read others say that canned pumpkin, not the pie filling, but the straight pumpkin is good to give when a dog has eaten something like this. Pumpkin has lots of fiber and helps bulk up the poop, and pads the foreign object. I would pick up all poops in a plastic bag and squish it, until I found the house. Sometimes you can't see the object in the poop, and you will feel so much better once you find the house. If there is any vomiting get your dog to the doctor as soon as possible, as this can mean an obstruction where the foreign object is blocking the intestines, this is a very serious condition. Dogs up to two years old will eat almost anything that hits the floor, it's very important to keep objects like this away from them. My guess is that you could wait till tomorrow to call your vet, if there is no signs of distress and no vomiting. If your dogs does not pass it on it's on, your vet may recommend surgery. I think it's about a tablespoon or two of the canned pumpkin. |
Yes, Pure canned pumpkin. I've heard that too. Nancy always has great advice!! I think he'll poop it out if anything. Pumpkin will help. |
Please take him in and get an x-ray done. His little intestins are so thin I think a plastic monopoly house could cause major blockage. It's better to be safe than sorry. I will pray for him right away. Please keep us posted. |
I went through this last week. Please get your dog to the ER Vet. They can induce vomiting since the house is probably still in the stomach. You will run into problems if it gets into the intestine/bowel. At that point surgery will be likely so the sooner you intervene the better. Please keep us posted |
