Sadie just threw up. What the hell!? Why does this crap keep happening. One gets sick and the other follows everytime. I'm sure hoping that her throwing up is just a one time deal. We just got home from the vets doggone it. I went ahead and gave her a dose of the metronidizole for today and if she throws up again i guess she gets the pepcid and cerenia too...please dear Lord just let that be a fluke deal and not another long week of two sick dogs :( what am i doing wrong here? i asked the vet the same question and she said she thought we were doing just fine. that our diet was great and healthy and that i seem to be taking good care of my pups. then why are we always dealing with this. is something bad in my yard or house that's causing sickness? if it's not diet which seemed fine for a long time then where is this coming from? could it be that we aren't keeping something clean enough? HELP |
Could there be something in your yard that they are getting sick from? Do you spray or put any type of lawn chemicals on the grass and garden? I wish I had an answer for you. It's so hard when they aren't well. Good luck, and I hope your pups get better!:) |
Once again you are giving an antibiotic, antinausea medication and antacid without a proper diagnosis. It's not getting you answers, you are repeating the cycles over and over and over again. I'd be at an internist with BOTH of them and at the very least having an opinion and perhaps they will recommend an abdominal ultrasound. Maybe they will need prescription diets. Maybe they need other medications. You do not want to destroy the gastric wall or inflame the intestines over and over and over again as this can cause long term damage. |

Do you think any of these party attendees gave something to the dogs? As LadyJane said earlier, parties and yorkies do not mix. Barney, Daisy and Teddy are on leash during holidays and always put away in crates or their tent if there is food out that could harm them. All you need is Aunt Sophie at the family picnic to feed a few fatty hot dogs and you're in for a possible few weeks of pancreatitis. And the party you had sounds worse than the family picnic. Maybe they got into something? |

just remembered i did give her a benedryl right before she threw up. ???? |
[quote=RachelandSadie;3348615]UPDATE: dh just got home and both dogs were alert happy and fine. so far no other vomitting episodes from Sadie. hoping against all odds that hers is totally unrealted to Bentley's. and he was sick before we had the party so not that he couldn't have picked up something, but it's unlikely. these were some of our closest friends and the dogs were by my side the entire night. yes it was a drinking party and there was food, but i kept a close eye on my dogs. Sadie got tucked in early in her crate in our room and bentley slept in his dog bed away from the crowd most of the night. like i said you never know what stupid people will do, but i do trust my friends and they had all been told not to give stuff to the dogs and i'm sure they didn't. but as for my poor house...they made quite a mess of it and we are not going to have anymore parties. i'm ready to have a baby and tired of that type of life anyways. I know I'm jumping on this a few days late and hopefully Sadie is better by now. Benedryl given to humans can help ease nausea. The reason I know this is because my 7 yr old is a cancer survivor (remission ROCKS) and when he would be in the hospital getting chemo they would give him benedryl through his IV first then add other stronger anti-nausea meds as needed. |
