My little Mari got Geardia just two weeks after I got her this summer from a stagnant type water on a sandbar on the river. It took about a week for it to kick in but she went totally lethargic, had to be on iv for two days and had about a 30% survival. She was 4 mos and only 1.3 lb!! But she made it like a little trooper but it did take my Ginger 15 years old. They both got sick a day apart. It's a NASTY bug and you would probably know if your dog got it. We thought we were taking them for a little warm swim (Mari's first swim) but they both took in a little (wave action) and drank some accidently. I learned a very BIG lesson. Not only did I loose my wonderful Ginger but the $$$ vet bill was a thousand dollars!!! We have a houseboat and have been doing this for years but this was a new one for me. :eyebrow2: :cry8: |
OMG! That is a terrible story! I'm so sorry! How sad :( :( :( Pinot is acting so totally normal which is what leads me to believe she doesn't have giardia plus her poops are normal now (except soft which I mentioned earlier). If anything takes a turn, however, I will take her right back to the vet. Butterfly - were the symptoms in your little ones just lethargy (and likely diarrhea)? |
