Need help to induce vomit to get back a hair scrunchie... good morning (its 530 am here), so I think Kenzie really swallowed the scrunchie this time, when i was trying to take it away from her she swallowed, and now we are awake and dont know what to do to get it back. someone told us to give her a teaspoon of olive oil so she will poop it out, but dont think its a great idea cause of pancreatitis risk, right? its one of the tiny scrunchies, have my doubts about it coming out from there in the poop. is there a way to make her vomit? she seems to be her normal self now, she ate breakfast, even did number two after breakfast like she always does, what can i do? Please help and thanks in advance.we wont sleep today :s |
I wouldnt make her vomit that she could choke as it comes out. I would let her pass it |
I would call her vet asap. |
Yep....call her vet. Or, if he/she is not in on weekends, call an emergency vet clinic. They will usually give advice over the phone regarding what to do about swallowed items. |
thanks for the replies. So called the vet, he told us to wait and keep checking her every move for the next 24 hrs, if it doesnt come out then we'll need to take her to his office. im very impatient and anxious now :( |
OMG I know how you feel. Jamie still steals those things right off my ponytail and plays with them. When she was about 6 months, she took one late at night and I tried to get it back and then I didn't see it anywhere. We took the couch apart and searched everywhere. Still no hair tie. I was sure she swallowed it and couldn't sleep that night. Next morning I was going to call the vet when my husband told me that he had found the hair thing downstairs in a bowl by the entranceway. Jamie must have flung it over the steps and railing and it landed there. They drive you crazy with their antics. Hopefully, your sweetie did not actually swallow it and I hope everything will be ok in any case. Be sure to give us an update. |
How is she doing? She will hopefully pass this on her own...it can actually be kinda stunning as to what dogs can pass through their systems. I'm glad you didn't make her vomit bc the size of a scrunchie (and it's texture) could cause it to be occlusive on its way up, and that could be very dangerous. |
How is she doing? I am *so* glad you chose to call the vet. I have only had to induce vomitting once and it was while being given advice over the phone from a 24 hr vet. It was scary for me even knowing she was telling me exactly what to do. I would not ever advise anyone doing this without FIRST seeking expert advice and with their guidance. |
So its been almost 48 hrs, and still waiting for the scrunchie to come out. She's been pooping, eating, playing, everything normal. My mom is so worried, she's shed a few tears cause she loves Kenzie so much. Please keep your fingers crossed so itll come out soon. |
My daughter's little male also swallowed a scrunchie one time...it was red and we did not even know that he had eaten it until he passed it! He was fine. It was a little alarming when he passed it, but once we figured out what it was, we quit using them in their hair. They love to pull them out, throw them in the air and chase them! |
It came out! She ate it! 3 days of us being all scared and nervous, but she is ok now. her tummy was making funny noises since yesterday's afternoon, gave her a bit of pumpkin and plain yogurt and first thing in the morning, it did come out! Thanks everyone for the advice. |
Glad to hear it! |
:cheer: Yay! So happy to hear it is OUT! :cheer: |
:) Glad to hear it! |
I love a happy ending! :D |
