need help with a sick puppy please!!!! my 4month old yorkie is tiny and has already had a hypogylcemic attack and has been doing very well lately, eating more and been alot more active.... however when i left 4 work at 10 this morning she was fine and i was home alot later then usuall about 5, usually id only be away til 1.... she never came 2 greet me at the door lik she usually would, she jus lay curled up, she hasnt eaten 2day yet and i dont think its a hypogylcemic attack as shes still very alert and not lethargic like the last time but just seems 2be shivering alot.... any ideas on wat could be wrong???? i get soo worried when shes not herself.... :( |
Shaking can be one of the early signs of hypoglycemia. It can also be a way of displaying pain. I would try to get her to eat something just to see if it clears up. If not, then you'll need to start looking for other causes. |
I would say a visit to your vet is in order. |
yes, please call your vet ASAP.....good luck! |
Have you called your vet to see what they say? Or tried giving her something in case it is hypoglycemia? How is she walking? I agree with Rhett's Mama that shivering can be a sign of pain. Hoping she feels better soon. |
I think its hypoglycemia. A tiny pup cant go that long without eating. They have to eat every 3 hrs or so to keep them going. Your going to have to find someone to take care of your pup while you work to make sure its eating. Give him some nutrical for now and go to the vet |
she is walking find, phoned the vet and they said the shivering could be a temperture or she mite jus have an upset stomach as shes not eating all day... i gave her honey as i read dat can help prevent a hypogylcemic attack.... she also ate some parmason cheese as i read it can help upset stomachs, she was mad 4more but im afraid 2 give her 2much of it.... |
Get some canned food and try to get her to eat shes got to eat. If worse comes to worse try gerber baby meat sticks |
After giving something sugary (honey, karo syrup, nutrical) it's good to follow it up with some easily digestible protein such as cooked chicken to prevent a rebound hypoglycemic episode. |
is cooked chicken ok 4 her 2 eat.... the vet told me to try and stay away from stuff like that and stick to dry/wet food but if chickens safe 4her 2eat and will help her am willing to try anything at this stage..... |
