My fingers are crossed for Mimo too! I hope he just has a little tummy upset. |
So glad you responded so quickly. Hope things turn out okay and will be checking for updates. |
I hope everyting is ok with Mimo and he's back home soon. |
Special thoughts for Mimo I'm so sorry Mimo is in hospital. We've got our fingers and paws crossed, too. Sending you the very best wishes for your little one. |
Saying a prayer that Mimo won't need surgery and will be back to himself in no time at all! Poor little guy. That must have been hard to leave him. Pls let us know how he is doing. |
Was checking back and hoping for an update on how Mimo's surgery went. |
thanks so much, everyone. i really appreciate having a place to share-- you all *get* it. :D Mimo is home!! turned out to be a case of gastroenteritis. poor baby! he got some subq fluids. they did the US, and also a parvo test just to make sure, which was negative. he did have a little bit of rawhide for the first time ever yesterday and i can't help but wonder if that is what caused it. what are your experiences with it?? i'm exhausted from the nerve wrecking. :P |
also, the blood work showed his protein is a little low (the reason why the wanted to rule out parvo). i should have asked more questions, but i didn't think about them till now. *sigh* anyway, thanks again for all the support. you are all a really nice bunch of people. <3 |
I won't give dogs rawhide anymore. I don't know if it could have caused Mimo's problem but it's such a choking risk... I'm really glad to hear he's home and hope he recovers quickly! |
I am glad he is home and on the road to recovery. One of mine seems to get tummy upsets from any type of rawhide, hooves or bones. Now they only get nylabones and has done much better. |
So glad he is ok!! Yes, rawhide very well may have been the culprit. I also use Nylabones...just make sure, if you get that, that you the the durable ones that are not digestible. |
It could have been the rawhide, I had a lab-mix who could and would eat anything he could get his mouth on and would never have any kind of stomach issues. I gave him a rawhide one day and he suddenly had "explosive" diarreah a few times in a row. Took him to the vets and he was fine but needed fluid due to the dehydration. Since then I've never given a dog a rawhide bone...there is just something not right about them. I'm so glad your little one is better now. |
So glad your little one is out of the hospital and things look good. Rawhide.... No more for my girls because Piccolo choked on one and luckily I was able to get it out of her throat in time. (That was before I joined YT and learned so much about chews, etc.) Never had your type of problem, though. Again, so happy about the great ending. |
Sending prayers for your little one. |
