Tinkerbell may be sick. I copied and pasted this post from the Diet/ health forum to here as I thought this was the more appropriate place for it. I may be over reacting, but Tink has been acting different since yesterday. She has been shaking like she is cold even with 2 layers on. Normally she is super active, but all she wanted to do was sleep most of the day away. Part of me wonders if it is just the change in the weather and maybe she is worn out from all the hiking we did last week. I am going to call the vet and see if they can squeeze her in today. I just can't shake the feeling that something is not right with her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers today. I will be taking her in at 11:20 this morning. |
keeping our fingers and paws crossed for Tinkerbell. Please keep us posted |
I just got back from the vets. He couldn't find anything wrong. Her temp was normal, heart sounded great, physical exam fine, so we are going to run a blood panel and liver screen. I was going to have this done anyway before her spay so if everything comes back good she will go ahead and have her surgery in the next week or 2. The vet suspects that Tink is just worn out a bit from all the excitement of last weeks hiking trip and the current weather change to colder temps. I am relieved that it seems I have just been a worried mother hen, but I will feel so much better when I get the results of her blood work back tomorrow. Thanks everyone for keeping Tinkerbell in your prayers. |
Oh, that is wonderful!! I know that I am concerned if one of my babies is not acting like themself! :p |
Did your vet check her teeth and anals ? Have you checked her feet for stickers from your hike ? |

I'll keep your sweet lil Tinkerbell in my prayers. I'm hoping it's a bit like jet lag for her.:) |
I just got off the phone with my vet and he said her blood work all came back fine. So it seems like there is nothing obviously wrong. The only symptoms she has are that she seems more tired and lazy than normal and she is not liking the cold temps. She continues to eat just fine and doesn't act like she is hurting anywhere. I guess I am just a little over the top with worrying, but my vet said it is always a good idea to check into these things when there is a change in their normal behavior. I don't want to be one of those people that is running to vet for every little thing, but Tink is so small and she can't tell me whats wrong. I How do some of you more long term experienced yorkie owners make the decision that its time to see the vet? |

Is it possible she could have picked up a tick on the trail and have the early stages of Lyme disease? I don't know how it appears in dogs, but I had it 20 years ago and I still remember how depressed, achy, and listless I felt at the beginning. |

I really am beginning to think it was the weather change as Tink is acting more like herself tonight. Thanks so much for all your thoughts and advice everyone. I really appreciate it. |
