Eye problem?
 
I apologize if this is double posted, cant seem to find the original.

Anyways,

Little Bill is 2 1/2 years old. Noticed he has a film like thing on his eye. Its not cloudy, white, or discolored in any way. It instead looks like he was wearing a contact, that had wrinked or folded on his eyeball.

He seems to be uneffected by it, and i dont believe it is the result of blunt trauma, as we'd have noticed. First noticed it a couple of months ago, but it seems to come and go, and as its not caused any problems (or reactions) at all from him, and its not always there, we've left him be.

Just notcied it again today, tried looking around the internet (again) and still cant find anything that matched.

-On his eye, not in it
-Clear / not discolored
-Normal amount of discharge
-Not causing him any pain/irritation
-SEEMS to come and go

Any ideas? Thoughts?

Sounds like eye gook . May be caused from allergies or a malformed tear duct. I have one who has to have the duct flushed about once a year. The duct is slightly deformed but does fine till allergy season then he gets the gook and it plugs the duct. I would deff have the vet check it out.

Our little boy Houston has had this since he was just over 1 year old.
My wife was in the parking lot of the vet and a lady pulled in front of her causing my wife to nail the brakes.

This was well before we knew of doggie car seats, seatbelt harnesses, etc. Houston was thrown forward and his eye hit the in-dash cup holder.

Since she was in the vet's parking lot and taking him for his exam anyway, she mentioned to the vet.

His was caused by trauma and he has had it ever since and is ten years old now.

It has never caused him any issues or vision problems.

If it comes and goes and does not appears to be the mucous I goop, then I would just tell your vet at your little ones next routine visit.

Hi and Welcome to YT!

Dogs have a third eyelid, and this can become everted (folds wrong so it won't completely disappear back into the corner of the eye) either from trauma or disease. When any of mine have this, I use a sterile eye lubricant (Artificial Tears, human kind, NO Visine ever) as long as no sign of infection is present. Sometimes it helps. If anything else is present, I would have a vet look at it, and if it gets worse or irritated, surgery may correct it.
