How wonderful that Gucci will soon be home back in your loving arms. She is a lucky girl to have you. |
Checking in for an update. I hope Gucci is doing well. |
I hope she is doing well, glad you are able to have her home with you..please update |
1 Attachment(s) Hi. Yes, Gucci is home and is doing well:) She can eat and drink on her own now which really makes things so much easier. She is sleeping a lot but the problem I have is that when she is awake, she wants to run and jump up and I'm trying to keep her calm - paranoid that a screw will get out of place or something! Tomorrow is supposed to be the last day I give her the pain meds but I think I'm going to wait until after Wednesday - since Wednesday will be 1 week since she had the surgery. Thanks to ALL OF YOU who have been so kind to us during this awful journey we have had - it really helps having other people you can "talk" to about it all! |
What is the doctors name? I am in Jacksonville. Glad to hear you have your baby home . Puppy kisses from my Paris. |
It's called "North Florida Neurology" and the doctor we used was Dr. Andrew Hopkins. He was so nice, very patient and informative and I would highly recommend him to anyone who has a dog with any neurological problems. :aimeeyork |
So glad to hear she's doing so well.... I'll keep her in my prayers... |
That's great to hear she is doing so well. How long does she have to be kept calm? |
She has to be kept calm for a total of 12 weeks, I think. We go on Nov. 10th and they take off her cast and put on a new one. She wears that for 2 more weeks and then I think she just goes back to her neck brace that she wore before the surgery for another 2 weeks. After that, I think there is 6 week period where she has to stay in her crate to try and keep her calm. I guess I will find out down the road if this is still the plan. She does sleep a lot but when she's awake, she is all over the place, trying to run and jump up constantly. I let her out to walk around a couple of times a day but she's trying to be a wild child:) BTW - the doctor had to shave her all over! She had long hair to the floor. Does anybody know how long it will take to grow back? (It's the least of my worries but she was so pretty with that long hair, LOL!) |
Do you have to go all the way back to Jacksonville to do the cast replacement? |
No, thank goodness! There is a doctor that used to work with him that just moved to Miami a month ago. He just didn't have the equipment in yet to do this type of surgery but he will do the cast replacement and follow-ups. How convenient is that!!! |
I'm just glad you've got her home with you and she's doing well. It's going to be a long road for you, I'm sure. I just love the pillow in the picture. She's precious.:) |
So glad to hear Gucci is doing so well! She is a lucky little yorkie! And darling, I love her picture and how cute is that pillow? |
I am so glad to hear that Gucci is doing well. I too LOVE that pillow. :) As for her hair.....I cut two of my pups hair really short about 1 1/2 years ago and HATED it short. It is now floor length again....so, takes about a year for it to fully grow back. :) |
Glad to hear Gucci is doing so well. Hope you feel the support from everyone in the yorkie community as you go thru the recovery phase now. You are a wonderful mom and dad to give her the immediate care she needed with the added effort of flying her! Gucci is forever a special little girl and will always have a special place in my heart. It does my heart good to hear of this great aai success story. Plz give Gucci kisses from me and her Aai group family. |
SO GLAD TO HEAR HAPPY NEWS ABOUT YOUR BABY.... Robin and Max |
