Glad to hear Bella is doing better. It is my understanding that with elevated BAT under 100 it is MVD. There are people on this list, though, who are more experienced and knowledgeable than myself on this topic. Will keep Bella in my thoughts. |

It could be a wait and see situation ~ but if your baby is having symptoms, I probably wouldn't wait six months. Lucy had mildly elevated BAT's ~ we waited 30 days and then re-tested. In general, numbers under 100 tend to point to MVD whereas numbers above 100, tend to lean more toward an actual liver shunt. If it is MVD, you are not without hope. There are many ways to improve her liver function; if that is what turns out to be her problem. |
Hopefully it was a reaction to a dropped pill and not something ongoing. If she shows any further symptoms I would retest sooner. My Cali has very mild MVD and her Bile acids were around 0/90 the first time and on retest around 0/45. She needs no treatment but I keep her on a lower protein diet and for any surgical procedures her vet treats her as liver compromised just to be cautious. |
I'm keeping a close eye on Bella and not really seeing a big difference to how she behaved before this incident. She's never been a hyper dog or had the typical puppy behavior that I've seen in my other little girls. She is starting to go through a chewing phase but at her age (6 1/2 months) it's teething, I'm quite sure. I've asked our vet to fax over the actual tests to our house so I can see the numbers myself. |
Kind of overall lethergy can be a sign of liver issues too. I hope you can get it al figured out. |
I hope Bela is doing much better now and that you have found out what is wrong with her. By the description on your first post it sounds like what is going on with my little girl. The pacing, restlessness, and head movement. It's like they can't keep still. Mine also wants to be held when she is showing these signs. My little girl with be five years old this month and has just started showing signs of Liver Shunt (atleast that's what the vet thinks it is). I took her today and they are running test on her now. They have changed her diet to a science hill LD. |
