Help Advice needed Yorkie collapses when straining to be sick
 

My Mum n I have a 3 year old yorkie and recently when being sick she goes all wierd walkin round n round in circles trying to throw up but after a while kinda goes stiff and collapses stiff. This can happen about once a week maybe twice.:animal-pa

Now i freak out panic scream the lot run to her lift her up she is wobbly but then is soon back to her self n runs off to play now my mum is disabled n cant go to her like i do and I do not live at home. She told me Tillie (the yorkie) does get back up but I personaly just panic n rush.

She has only been doing this since about June 2010 first we thought maybe the hot heat but here in the Uk we aint exacly boiling temperatures lol. Also this summer she has been very scared of flys suddenly n makes herself poorly worrying over these.

Any advise or help would be fab. :confused:

We are insuring her and going to take her to the vets. I have read up on epilepsy, fainting from lack of oxygen and collapsed tranchea only thing is she aint got a goose honk cough. She can have a little cough n has from 8 weeks if to excited or drinking but more like a small choke lasting about 15 seconds.

The same thing happened with my little man but when he collapsed the last time I was able to jump in the car and go straight to the vet. They determined that his heart was having a hard time keeping the correct rhythm. He has been taking heart meds now for about 8 months and we have not had another episode like that again. please get her checked because that last time it happened to my little guy they told me he probably would have died if I had not got him there as soon as I did!!

Yes I have been saying she needs to see a vet now i Mentioned it to the vet nurse when she went after the first one n she said just keep an eye on here but now It's worrying our last yorkie lived to 18 and I would love this one to get alot more years outta herself.

I am looking to insure her within the nx week incase it is a on going illness as my mum wouldnt be able to afford it.

It's just horried to see when it hppens We re trying to work out if its after she see's a fly or not :S She is fine rest of the time no other problems but collitus.

Most insurances have waiting periods of several weeks to several months. Are you certain you want to risk waiting, and possibly letting her suffer even more?

Well the nurse said theywasnt worried but my mum will not be able to afford it she is disabled and can not work so only way. The insurance company said there is no waiting time but just dont take on a previous condition. I thought I would ask on here for advice n if anyone else has had simular conditions

I've never had one with those symptoms. Sending prayers that she's better soon.

thought i would update you basicaly she has had x-rays and blood tests and is now booked in for a ecg. She has water on her lungs so is on anti biotics and water tablets but she also has a mishaped enlarged heart :( as to where we go now i dont know

Im sorry to hear that your little one is ill.
Couldnt the vet tell you anymore in terms of her future? is he able to treat the condition? I hope she is better soon.

Well she has had her ECG tests this week and alls fine with heart , they've said she has msot likely always had a over sized heart and most likely never had any problems with it nd may never have it cause her any problems.... But they have said she may have a miss-shaped heart due to an infection or what ever is wrong with her maybe the lung is pushing the heart they said.

Well after the first trip to the vet she came home had a drink of water coughed and brought up what we thought was water but very think saliva/Mucus so we told the vet and the vet said this maybe the water that was on the lungs and it got disurbed when they put the tube down her throat. They re-listened to her lungs and said they do sound clearer but wont know with out another x-ray......

She has been on Anto- biotics and water tablets as well which has made her a little brighter.

The vet is now sayin it may be just a chest infection but would they last 7 months we havent told them its been going on 7 months because of insurance purposes. Just got to keep an eye on her now if it continues he will do more tests and see if she has broncitus or emonia?

Since bringing up the salivia/Mucus she has not had one of her passing out sessions
