Bloody stool We came home last night and found a large bright red bloody stool mixed with much mucous on the potty pad. We have two dogs...Marcie and Mo-Jo. I check bottoms and it was Marcie. She hasn't had another one this morning but I am thinking about taking her to the emergency vet today. She has always had problems with her stools...they have been small little ones and she struggles having them....she is also the ornery one and finding things to eat that she shouldn't. She is a little 3 pounder, so I really watch her closely and try to not wait on problems. Normal behavior so far today. What do you think??? SandyGrace |
what food are you feeding. maybe put her on a bland diet boiled chicken and rice for few days; and add some probiotics. |
Buffalo Blue is what we feed her now, dry pellets |
bloody stools Hi...............Boops mom here. Please inform your vet about those stools....also please hold food and water for 24 hrs to give that tiny belly a break! If it was my baby, I'd give him boiled skinless chicken breast and rice for a couple days then gradually add back your norman food. aI feed my 9 year old nutro dry food with venison and oatmeal....its made for sensitive bellies............keep us posted..................Boops mom:animal-pa |
You really need to take her to the vet today. Do not try to self diagnose and treat at home. Bloody stools with mucus are a signal to NOT wait. Please keep us posted on what they say. |

I agree. Lady has had HGE three times and a bloody stool is the classic symptom. |
We are going to take her to the Purdue Emergency Clinic this evening. What is HGE?? |

How is she doing? If it gets any worse, don't wait to take her to the ER. If it is HGE, an hour can truly mean the difference between life and death. Hopefully it's just a tummy upset. |
Just checking in to see how she is doing? Glad you took her to the vet. |
Oh gosh...just seeing this. Glad someone was here to tell you to go to the vet asap! Hope all is well now. |
