Nuts, I submitted that before saying I hope everything goes okay. Hopefully Pippin will get straightened out and on the road to a full recovery. |
Sending out a prayer that Pippin's surgery goes well tomorrow and he makes a full and quick recovery. |
i will say a prayer for Pippen and your family that everything goes well and he will be himself again without any pain. |
Hope all goes well for Pippin. Sending hugs and prayers your way. Also, please ignore ignorant, stupid, thoughtless people who say cruel idiotic things. They have never known the love of a pet and cannot understand what people who love their pets go through. |
out of surgery and doing ok I talked to the office and they said Pippin was resting comfortably. They can not give any results out over the phone. She said the vet did have a consultation with a specialist before he recommend to me how we should proceed. My daughter is going to go with me at 4:30 to meet with the vet, and bring Pippin home. I am relieved he made it though surgery, but I am really scared of what the vet is going to tell me. I hope he found something, or saw something that will tell us why he has had these episodes. Thank you for your support, hugs and prayers. I know if anyone understands how I feel about my dogs it's the members of YT. If your dogs weren't such an important part of your lives you wouldn't be on here. Valerie |
I did not realize the surgery was today. I am so glad that he is out of surgery and will be home with you! I hope it will be good news that you receive. |
I'm glad you get to bring him home. Sitting on pins and needles until we hear from you. I hope he isn't too miserable. |
Glad he is out of surgery and coming home. I hope it's good news at the vet. |
Pippin is doing well, considering what he went through yesterday. I thought I posted last night. It either didn't submit or I was so tired I thought I posted. How do you moms with babies, or breeders who have to hand feed puppies do it? I am so exhausted. It was like having a baby (with colic) again. The vet wanted him to stay calm and the only place Pippin was happy was on my lap. But given a choice of being without Pippin, or being sleep deprived, I'll take the Pippin. The vet did x-rays. There was no blockage or foreign objects. The walls of the intestines are very thick which he said is sometimes a sign of IBD. He did a fecal exam and there were no parasites. He took 4 biopsies from different areas of the intestines, and 2 biopsies from his stomach. We won't have the results until Monday or Tuesday. He consulted with a specialist after the operation, and his guess is IDB. He also suggested running tests for Addison's disease. It's where your body doesn't produce cortisone? I'll have to read up on it. So, we are having tests run for that too. Again, thanks for all of the support, hugs and prayers. Valerie |
Happy to hear this. Not that you want a pup to have anything, but at least IBD is manageable with diet. Continued prayers for Pippin. Hope you get some rest soon. :) |
I have been waiting to hear how Pippin is doing. So glad the little one is home with you. Get some needed sleep as soon as you can. |
Glad to hear that Pippin is home and that the tentative diagnosis is something you can most likely manage with diet. Hope you can both have a quiet and restful weekend. |
Well, at least you have some anwers and it sounds like you'll have more soon. I'm sure you are exhausted. I don't blame him for taking over your lap. If I was Pippin, I'd want to be there, too. "Please don't leave me again, mommy!":D I'm sure he will be doing better soon. Let us know how things are going and what else they find out. |
Good morning!!! I had a few hours of sleep and life is great this morning. Pippin's level of pain must be lower because he is resting more comfortably and isn't making moaning sounds. He had about a teaspoon of food mashed with water at 2am, and 9am. The vet wants his food thin like liquid, and very small quantities. Pip has always had a healthy appetite, and almost licked the finish off the bowl trying to get every last drop. I read up on Addison's disease. The adrenal gland doesn't produce enough cortisol. Symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, lack of appetite, tremors or shaking, muscle weakness & pain in hind quarters. Pippin never had the last 3 symptoms. I guess its better to run the test to eliminate it from the possibilities. I don't think I'm going to get much done around the house today, unless I can accomplish it with a yorkie in one arm. I guess we'll just have to be couch potatoes. Actually, laying on a couch with a yorkie on my stomach, watching tv, sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day. :D |
that is good news that he has an appetite. Sounds like Pippin will on the mends in no time. :) |
