leaking??? I have a 10 year old male yorkie. I have started to notice that his tummy is sometimes wet. I have not noticed any urine on the floor so it does not appear that he is having "accidents". I am wondering if he is doing alot licking when I am away from home or could this be some sort of leakage problem? How can I tell? How dangerous is it if there is a leakage problem going on? How worried should I be? Thanks!! |
Can you smell his tummy to see if it smells like urine ? If it does I would have him checked by your vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI. If you think it's urine , just be sure to keep it clean so he doesn't get urine scald. If he has become incontinent just due to age you can use belly bands to keep him from leaking in the house. |
I would take him to the vet for a checkup. Get his urine tested just to be sure he does not have a UTI. It may be nothing, but at least you will know! :) |
need more advice Quote:
I have not smelled any urine. He had a urine check last month and everything was okay; he has a history of crystals so he is on meds for that. He also has a history of pancreatitis. The meds that he is on are: hydrochlorothazide, Potassium Citrate and B6. He also had a complete blood work up done last month and everything came out fine. I stated in a previous post that I have recently lost my husband and since then I seem to over react to everything. I could probably find a reason to take Bear to the vet every week if I allowed myself to. I am trying so hard to not make a mistake, but also not over react to everything that happens....sorry to ramble. Anyway, if anyone knows the symptoms of UTI that would be helpful. There have not been any changes in his drinking or peeing. Thanks! |
Hi! Symptoms of a UTI would be dark, smelly urine if the infection has gotten bad, and more frequent peeing, and sometimes there could be blood in the urine too. The wetness on his tummy could be from some extra pee coming out from an infection, so I would get that checked to rule it out! It can be very uncomfortable for him if he does have a UTI. Good luck! |
