Charlie is recovering well from luxating patella surgery Our Charlie has just been for his 4 week check up with the Vet who performed his operation. He is delighted with his recovery, he is walking mainly on all 4 legs now and doesn't need the painkillers any more. He is still not allowed to run around incase he overdoes it but he can go for 30 minuite walks now. The bad news is that he needs the other leg doing as weel. I am dreading that as it was very upsetting seeing him in pain and unable to walk straight after his operation and hard work keeping him from jumping around once he started to feel better. |
That's great news on his recovery. One the other is done, and he recovers, you can rename him Speedy! |
Glad to hear he is doing well. I know what you mean though about having to keep them from running and jumping. I bought a plastic playpen for Mylee's surgery, but she climbs out of it. SO, I took it and put it around or sofa instead to keep her from jumping up. Now, we are the ones confined. It's rather humorous. It seems like a long process but it will be over before you know know it. |
Yes, we had to put boxes etc on the sofas so he couldn't jump up and a board at the bottom of the stairs. Even then he managed to get upstairs and run back down again! I know hes well on the road to recovery though because hes started dragging his bed out of his crate, down the hall and into the lounge again, he hadn't done that since his surgery |
I am glad he is doing so well. Sorry to hear about his other leg. When Pixie had hers done, I bought a little ex- pen for guinea pigs, rabbits etc and moved it wherever I was. Fortunately, Pixie is not a jumper so it worked great. I also had the play yard for nights. |
That's terrific news! I just found out my little one has LP in both legs. She's shown no signs of discomfort so it's considered Grade 1, but it's great to hear of success stories like yours. Thanks for posting, and be sure to keep us updated. |
