Sick Yorkie Puppy I have a male yorkie that is 3.5 months old. He constantly keeps coughing and then gagging. We took him to the Vet and the Vet said that it was a minor irritation of the throat and that he didn't have kennel cough, but he hasn't got in better if anything worse. Any ideas on what this might be and what I can do to make him more comfortable and better? |
Molly had this around the Christmas holidays last year and it was an upper respiratory infection. The vet put her on an antibiotic and a pill for cough. It took about 2 weeks to get better. It's a horrible feeling when these little babies are sick! |
Sometimes putting them in a steamed up bathroom for 5 minutes can help... Or maybe get a second opinion from another vet. |
Not sure how they would know that it is not Kennel cough. I woud call the vet and tell him that you would like an antibiotic. However an antibiotic does not treat kennel cough, it just prevents an infection. |
I was just reading a thread about collapsed trachea, and it was a young puppy too, when diagnosed. I think the vet has to do an xray to diagnose. |
