Help!! yesterday i noticed that my 6 months old yorkie is having problems peeing. she would pee normally , then 5 mins later she would try to pee again but nothing comes out. she is also doing that on the floor, which she hasn't done for a while because she is trained to go on the peepad. it is the same when i walk her, she would pee normally, then try again in 5 mins but nothing or a small drop will come out. she's been eating and drinking normally, but she's acting more quiet than usual. she's usually very hyper, but today she's been quiet and very calm compared to her usual self. i spoke to a vet over the phone, and they said that she might have UTI or bladder stones. help anyone?? the vet isnt open till monday and i want to make sure she'll be ok :( |
maybe this will help??? --- my Carly (when she was about that same age) starting peeing (a little) frequently, couldn't seem to hold it...I suspected a urinary tract infection (??) something -- and called the vet and he gave her amoxicillan (sp?) and she got better. So it might be something simple, but I'd definitely take a trip to the vet if it doesn't get better in a day or two. Kendra:animal-pa |
There is nothing anyone can do but a vet. Is there an emergency vet close? He was right that it is probably a uti or stones. Have you seen a pinkish stain, like blood, if she has used a pad? I wish there was something we could do to help you, but a vet is what she needs. I'm so sorry. She's very young to have this, but I suppose age has nothing to do with it. Let us know what happens with the vet. She really should have gone to the vet yesterday and it might have saved her some discomfort. |

If it were my pup and she was having difficulty urinating and also shaking, I would be at the EC. |

You don't need to see any blood for it to be a UTI. But the longer you wait, the more pain she will be in if it is one. You also risk the infection spreading up to her kidneys. This is one of those times the ER vet is worth the extra expense. |
Please take her to the ER vet asap. Since she is straining, but not able to pass urine, she could have stones. Bladder stones can cause a life threatening blockage. Bladder Stones (Urinary Calculi) in Dogs |
Please don't wait until Monday. She needs to get help today. Have you ever had a UTI? If not let me tell you it is very uncomfortable and will only getr worse as time goes by. Please let us know how your baby is doing? We care. |
