Update
 
The surgery went fine, he is awake, still in some pain, the pain meds have not kicked completely in yet.

He did have to go through the outside. I can pick him up tomorrow morning. He wants to do laser therapy on it in one week and 2 weeks, when the stitches come out. And then depending on how well he is doing maybe some more.

Glad he is waking up and doing well. The pup I told you about had the outside incision also and he was up and going in no time. Well wishes going Levis way...

Oh sorry to hear that. When does Tico have surgery? We'll be able to compare progress reports.

Tico go's to bone Dr. Monday, my 1st vet reffered him to a surgeny and we will find out then? I will be in touch here then. I hope your baby is well, there just so small to go through this:(. I love my yorkies so much and I do hope this helps.:animal-pa:aimeeyork

Good for Levi. I'm glad he did well. I knew he would. He will be up and around in a day or two and probably putting some weight on it by then. Farrah, 2 weeks post-op is running like the wind!
What is the laser therapy for? What benefits does it have?

I'm so glad things went well with your little boy. I hope he is running around as soon as he is allowed to. It is so sad to see our babies in any kind of pain.

He said it is like the lasers that chiropractors use. It causes a chemical reactilon in the muscle that gets rid of some of the stiffness and soreness, so they will start to use the leg sooner.

Did you call different orthopedic vets to compare prices. The one that my vet referred me to was twice as much as the one I took him to.

Hi, I did call 3 different vets and they were around the same price, 1200, Thanks god I have the money to do this, because so many people dont:aimeeyork I will keep you posted.

Thank you. Levi did great last night, he does chew at his stitches. he is eating and pooping, so back on track with that.

Today I will start to move his leg to keep the muscle loose. I just gave him pain meds, so will wait an hour or so before we do the therapy.

Jeanie, did your vet suggest this? The orthopedic specialist here does not recommend PT in the initial recovery. These pups need to rest and let the muscle heal around the bone to get stability in the joint.
