diarrhea; runny stool Okay, I may be over reacting again, which I seem to be doing frequently since losing my husband 3 months ago. My 10 year old yorkie has had two rounds of diarrhea with a little "mucus" today. Both times he was outside, so he has not had any accidents. He is eatting, drinking water and playing. What do you think? Do I need to be concerned at this point? Anything I can do for him? Should I wait and see how he is tomorrow before rushing him to the vet? Thanks! |
I would not rush my pup to a vet if he had two bouts of diarrhea. If that happens, I watch them closely. The most important thing is to make sure he is hydrated. If you lift his upper lip up and touch his gum lightly, if it is moist he should be ok. If it feels sticky to the touch, he could be dehydrated and you should consult a vet. Good luck...hopefully this will stop on its own. I am sorry about the loss of your husband. |
Diarrhea Our Buddy got diarrhea and the vet said it was colitis. We had to give him an antibiotic and another medicine, plus she switched his food to the Hill's Prescription Diet I/D. He seems to be doing better, but still not perfect....hope your doggie is doing better. :) |
My little sue managed to eat a bit of her lead. nothing showed up on x-ray so they did surgery today. all they can tell me is FINGERS CROSSED SHE WILL BE OKAY???? Please help as I thought it was a striaght forward proceedure :( |

I'm so sorry about the loss of your husband and I hope your puppy gets better soon! |
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband. It must be a very difficult time for you right now. As for your Yorkie. My answer is always the same. Pumpkin! 100% pure pumpkin with no spices. I usually by the canned Libby's at my grocery store and keep it on hand. Let him have as much as he'll eat. This almost always stopped diarrhea in it's tracks for my gang. My one Biewer has a very sensative stomach and if he eats anything out of the normal (recently....cat food) he will get a bout of diarrhea. Pumpkin works most times for him. Good luck! |
