Sore Throat Was wondering if anyone has had this happen? Lexi was fine today but tonight she started having what seems like a hard time to swallow. I gave her some water and she did drink it. She has also had some cheese and yogurt treats just now. I did call my vet and he had me give her some children's benadryl. She moves her head forward and licks with her tongue almost like it does hurt to swallow? He told me if the benadryl doesn't seem to help to call him back in an hour and he will meet us. what a great vet we have. Could she catch a sore throat from us? As my hubby has been sick and it did start with a sore throat...thanks so much for your thoughts...Hugs Cheryl & Lexi P.S. You would think once the kids grow up and we live through that life would get easier....gueeeze I worry just as much and will be up all night :( |

Thanks for the response...I do have medium length hair. I know that could be a possiblity. She is eating now so I am keeping an eye on her. I really does seem like she might have a sore throat..poor baby. I just worry so much. I was hoping if it was a string or fuzz or something like that it would go down? You just never know, there is always something...I sure wish they could talk...LOL |
I hope she will be feeling better soon. The benedryl does help. She can't catch a sore throat from humans though. |
Sorry Lexi is not feeling well. Also, check the sides of her mouth, a couple of mine get hair from the sides of their mouth down their throat when they eat and will do that. The hair is attached so it doesn't go down on it's own. |
Maddie has gotten tonsilitis before. When she did, she coughed a lot...a honking cough. My vet said the coughing was because she was trying to clear her throat. I hope your little Lexi is feeling better and it turns out to be something simple and a very fast recovery. It's such a worry when they get sick. |

Thanks everyone for your response. It sure does make you feel better when someone else might have some thoughts or suggestions, or has had the same thing happen. Sure was strange to say the least, the benadryl seemed to help and helped her sleep last night. Not sure...but you always wonder on things you do differently...I did shampoo her last night with a different shampoo just never know...with allergies?? won't use it again just in case. She seems to be doing fine today...eating, playing and barking so I think thats a good thing :D Her vet even called today to check on her..gotta love it. Thanks again everyone........I truly appreciate it :D |
