15 weeks post LP surgery My dog Rico had LP surgery 15 weeks ago. He is doing really well, walking, running and playing. Occasionally, about once a week, he still lifts his leg up a bit for a little while. Anyone whose dog had this surgery, is this common? |
My chihuahua had double LP surgery about 1 year ago and she healed really well and has never hopped or lifted her leg again. When is your check up visit with the surgeon? My doctor examined her when they took the stitches out and then took a quick x-ray to make sure she was healing correctly. Maybe you will need your surgeon to take an xray, just mention that Rico is still lifting one leg. Good Luck and let us know what the vet says. |
Pixie is 7 weeks post Lp surgery and at her check up, the surgeon said her left knee didn't move out of the grove at all. Every once in awhile it will look like she is walking a little funny but I don't think it is LP related. I would ask the surgeon to take a look at Rico just to be sure. |

All I can say is, if your baby gets worse, find an orthopedic surgeon. Don't take anymore chances. |
Rico's surgery was done by an orthopedic surgeon. At his 12 week check up he said his knee was tight. He did lose some muscle mass. We are working on building it back up. He is scheduled to see the surgeon again in September. He does have a pin in his knee where the ligament was tightened and the groove was made deeper. It seems that after laying for awhile his knee is a bit stiff when he gets up. I would have thought that by now, it would be 100%, but it is not quite there yet. I was just wondering if anyone remembered how long after surgery their dog was 100% healed? |
