HELP! please, think Kenzie swallowed her hair bow... Please help, Kenzie had one of those zoomies moments that lasted less than 30 mins, then we noticed her hair was down and looked for the bow and its nowhere to be seen, she coughed a bit and then continued playing, tried patting her back and ribs siftly and nothing yet. Called the vet, he told us to wait 24 hrs and see, wouldn't want her to go under the knife cause of that. Please help, I'm shaking right now, don't know how to get it out even though she's acting her normal self. |
I meant seconds, not minutes. Sorry. |
Was the bow on bands or a barrette? If it was on bands and doesn't have a big button center, she should be okay. |
I don't have any idea what you can do. Are you sure she ate it? I think I would keep looking. Was it the kind with elastic bands? I would think if it is small she will pass it, but just keep watching her. |
1 Attachment(s) My sister tells me its one of this accessories like the one in the pic, still looking for it in the hope its somewhere in the house. She never eats these when they fall off her hair, found it weird than she did this time, can't find it anywhere. Is there a way to make her throw up? *fingers crossed it appears in the house and not in Kenzie's tummy* |
Oh my, it appeared! She hid it in her bed, we freaked out, but the little miss was chewing it like a bubble gum looking all innocent. Thanks, sorry to bother you all, but you don't know with these little ones, she's faster than us 3 joining forces. Will take note of the Heimlich and CPR threads and give a printed copy to each member of the family, just in case. |
hooray!! I'm so glad it showed up! I know that feeling - Bridget lost a barrette the night before she was to go in to be spayed - I told the vet and he said they'd try to look to see if they could see/feel anything as long as she was under because it was a plastic baby barrette and if it didn't pass it would certainly cause problems. I too was a nervous wreck - didn't sleep all night for fear she'd start choking. I felt awful - I never leave them in her hair - but the phone rang and I turned my back for just a few seconds and poof - it was gone! They never found it and about a week later it appeared - she actually carried it to me!!! whew!!! I don't use those barrettes anymore! |
Whew. I was following this thread and got nervous. Glad everything is ok now. |
Thanks for your concern. I was so scared, I was getting dizzy LOL. I screamed a loud yay! When it appeared, cause the vet said: "if it doesn't come out in the next 24 hrs, then there comes surgery to get it out cause it can block the bowels" Phew! |
Thank goodness you found it, I thought you might. They don't taste good enough to eat. They can be very good at hiding things. |
I'm glad you got the bow. We had this happen recently with Teddy - he ate the center plastic flower off of Barney's bow. It was just big enough to worry me, so I induced vomiting and took the flower back myself. I just did not feel like waiting it out or worrying. |
