Possible Pancreatitis.... :(:( Taking one of my girls in to the vet at 2:45 today. Has all the symptoms of pancreatitis. She is my overweight 4 pounder(the one on the right in the avatar) that is now down to 3.75 pounds in 2 days. Started innocently but after 24 hours of pedialyte I tried boiled chicken and rice and after an hour she vomited it up. Waited another 4 hours and tried again with same results.... so off the vet for the 3 time in a week. Had a parvo scare last week after bringing in a pup that had diarrhea (neg worms, neg coccidia, neg giardia, and neg snap parvo test) ended up diagnosed as stress colitis. When ever I am not looking people tend to feed her the table scraps because she is a naughty beggar. If she has pancreatitis there will be a new Momma here and I will tear heads off of my adult skinkids if they so much as give her one little lick of anything!!! I have lit into them already but am partly to blame cause I keep frozen baggies of chicken breast for them at all times and pass it out twice a day. Probably where the begging started but has definately blossumed since they have all come home from college for the summer.... |
I'm sorry I didn't see your post until now. I hope all went well at the vet. Please let us know how everything is, ok? |
She is doing ok. I have her here at home. They gave her sub q fluids even though she was not dehydrated because they want her to have no food or fluids till tomorrow am. Then water only in sips till noon then 1 tsp of rice/chicken combo, wait 2 hours before giving food or water. Then repeat. Her liver enzymes were within normal limits but clinically she presented like pancreatitis so they are treating her as such. Unless other symptoms appear. Only weird thing was her total protien and albumin was low so we will recheck them in 2 weeks anyway. Thank you for your concern Earthangel....will keep posting... |
Oh, glad she is home. Your vet seems to be on top of things. I will be keeping her in my prayers to get better and everything to be ok. Yes, please post when you are able for an update. Dyan |
I will definitely say a prayer for your baby. I'm sorry she is sick. Glad she is home and has a caring and loving mom to nurse her back to health. |

Get well wishes to your baby! I hope she recovers quickly! |
Well it is morning and I offered water to her of which she turned her head away. I put her in the x pen so that she cannot find any food on the floor so she is not impressed with that at all. I have not used an x pen on her in over a year she she probably thinks she has been bad:(. I can see it from where I am typing though and want to see if she will drink the water before I force feed it to her. Which the vet said to do if need be. She has a huge interest in food though. I have been homecooking for a puppy that had a bout of stress colitis and for Emma as I always do for her and A.J. is sniffing the air and whining for that. Can't wait till noon when I can give her some. Poor thing. If she vomits at all today the vet sent me home with some Cerenia tablets for that....keeping fingers crossed. |
I am so sorry she is still not feeling well. We will pray that she gets better. One thing I did when Rosie would not drink is put a little sugar in her water. It was recommended by my vet and believe it or not she drank some of it. You may want to ask your vet first but it may be worth a shot. I hope all goes well. Please keep us informed. |
How is your little one coming along? |
She has eaten twice and kept it down. I am so happy!! She is attempting to play now and is almost her self. Thank you for your well wishes...:) |
So glad to hear that she is doing a little better!! |
I'll keep her in my prayers... update us when her bloodwork is rechecked... hoping all goes well... |
