Teeth Claire is almost 7 months old and has been teething for a while. Her teeth came out and new ones came in fine, until her canines! She now has two sets of canines on the top and bottom. She appears to still be teething, but these teeth have not fallen out yet. Should I take her to the vet or give it more time? |
Has Claire been spayed yet? The reason I ask is usually when a pup is spayed or neutered around the age of 7 months, at the same time the vet will remove any baby teeth that are left. |

My Bentley had started with the double row of canines right before he got neutered. The vet removed them and his teeth are fine. I think if it were me I'd have your vet examine her and see about removing them. |

He was neutered and teeth removed at the same time. I waited til he was 7 months to get neutered because I wanted to make sure any baby teeth that didn't come out would be removed at the time. |
Your vet will beable to remove them. We had dustee and millie who i had to take in for theirs to be removed and they came home the same day and the vet will clean the rest of their teeth as well so you get both done at the same time and the anistia isnt as strong as a spay either |
So we called the vet and set up an appointment for Claire to have her teeth cleaned and the baby canines extracted this Thursday. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!! |
I know you already made the appointment and this advice is likely too late, but I would give her another month or so if she doesn't have any other problems yet (eg, double teeth, crooked canines). I went through this with Rocco and his canines seemed firmly planted, but I 'helped' him loosen them by holding bully sticks and Himalayn chews while he chewed on them. This helped him to really bear down HARD while chewing. I did this for about 2-3 weeks a couple of times a day, then the canines finally came loose and all 4 fell out within about 5 days! That said, please do what you and your vet feel is best for Claire. I just wanted to let you know that it can happen fairly quickly, and since she's so young hers may do the same. Best wishes either way :). |
Thank you for the advice!! Unfortunately these teeth had been in there since the middle of July and have not shown any signs of getting loose. She is getting antsy and unruly...her potty training has regressed (some of which I know is our fault for giving her too much freedom too fast) and I really thing they are bothering her..she chews and chews, but they are just not budging! There is also a lot of tartar building up since the baby teeth are next to the adult teeth..I will try helping her up until her surgery..but sadly I think they will have to be extracted :( |
