Sandy Broke His Leg We went visiting fiance's cousin on Saturday to bring them our wedding invitation. They've a big golden retriever which was so happy to see us. Fiance's brother was holding Sandy so that the big dog wouldn't hurt him. Who knew Sandy decided to jump down and hit the concrete floor. My heart stopped for a sec when I saw that happened... I knew it's not good. He was crying in pain :( We brought him to the vet and found out his right front leg is broken. He has a cast on now but we're bringing him to our vet tomorrow to see if he needs a surgery. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. We thought we're going to swim in the lake and enjoyed the sun this weekend but it turned out to be a horrible one for us. |
i'm so sorry to hear that Sandy has a broken leg. :( its best to get him checked out by an orthopedic surgeon so the break can be evaluated for surgery. In most cases, surgery is the best solution. do you know which bones are broken? |
I'm so sorry to hear about Sandy - it's so hard to see them in pain. Sandy will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery. |
Poor little Sandy. Let us know what the vet says!!!! |
So, so sorry to hear Sandy is injured. It's awful to see them in pain, that's for sure. Prayers to your little guy for quick healthy healing. Hugs...to Sandy for me & Zhoie...XXOOXXOO. |

Poor Sandy! Sending well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. |
Lola broke her front leg a couple of years ago. The vet recommended surgery and consulted an orthopaedic surgeon who also recommended it. It was going to cost over $3000.00. They said it might heal in the cast but we would have to be very careful with her. There was also the possibility that the surgery wouldn't work due to the size of the bones and the fact that such little ones don't always have the best blood supply for healing. We decided to try the cast and had xrays done periodically to check for healing and it worked. Her leg is fine and has not been a problem since. |
Thanks everyone. :) The surgery went well last night. My fiance and I were really nervous before the surgery. Our vet is great and we trust Sandy's in good hands. We were told to come back after an hour. When we're back to the clinic, we saw Sandy slowly came around from the anaesthetic. It was a relieve to know everything was fine. He has 2 pins on his bones and he'll have the cast on for at least 6 weeks. The vet told me he also did other checkup on Sandy and extracted 6 of his puppy teeth. My baby's next to me now and he's still trying to get used to the cast - he was biting it in the morning. I hope the pain will go away soon. I really miss the happy, jumpy little Sandy. We were warned that it won't be easy to keep him from running and jumping while he's recovering. |
Awww. Poor baby! I hope Sandy has a speedy and uneventful recovery. |
Pool lil fella! Hope his recovery goes well |
Poor guy, I'm glad the surgery went well and I hope his recovery for the next 6 weeks goes well also. |

so sorry about Sandy. Hope he heals well. Give him big hugs and kisses. |
Sandy sends his  to everyone. Thank you so much for your support. He's getting better today. He started playing with his toys last night. It's 35°C here and he's hiding under our bed to keep himself cool. We've another appointment with our vet for follow-up later today. |
