Help, I'm at a lost! Hi, and thanks to all who responded to my prior plea for help. I'm sorry to say that I need you once again. I think my baby Pumbaa is sick. The vet isn't open today and I'm not sure what to do. I woke up this morning to the sound of Pumbaa vomiting. When I checked around I saw a small pile of vomit that looked like dog food. When he started gagging again a few minutes later there was nothing but what looked like spit around his mouth. I've tried to get him to eat or drink some water but he wants neither. Is there anything that I can do before I'm able to get him to the vet? |
How old is your pup? Does your vet not have an emergency number? most vets have a number you can ring in an emergency when they are closed. How much food had your pup ate prior to being sick and have you noticed him eating any grass? |
Isn't there a veterinary emergency center in your area? Maybe you could call them. Sorry I can't be of much help, I know others on here will have better advice for you.Hope your baby feels better soon:aimeeyork |
He's 10 weeks old. I saw him trying to eat grass last weekend but I quickly picked him up and put him back in his carrier. He ate some food last night before we went to bed. |
When Rosie was sick vomiting and diarrhea, drinking was the issue. The vet had me put a little bit of sugar in her water and believe it or not she drank it. Don't know if it was the sugar or just at that moment she decided to drink. I know every time she eats grass she will throw up. I think the most important thing is to make sure your baby drinks the fluids. I hope he gets to feeling better. |
When any of my animals get an upset tummy: bland diet. Boiled hamburger, plain white rice, chicken broth, plain yogurt. Good Luck ***sometimes when I have had a pup: I have had to give a plain cracker/plain bread bite at bedtime because the acids are to much by morning.*** |
Sorry your baby is sick. With him being so young and not eating or drinking I would get him to the vet as soon as possible. These little ones can go down fast. In the mean time if you don't have Nutrical get some syrup or sugar water in to him so he doesn't go hypoglycemic. I hope he is feeling better soon. |
