Red Ant Bite I took Yogi out for his daily walk this morning. As we were walking he suddenly stopped and his front right paw was up. I quickly picked him up to check what was wrong and he had a red ant. A red ant bit him. I had to carry him all the way home because he couldn't put pressure on that paw. I called the vet and asked if it was necessary to bring him in, but they said to just keep an eye out on it. He still isn't putting any pressure on it and it keeps on shaking. I feel so bad for him. Have any of you had anything like this happen to their baby. Is there anything I can do or put on it to make him feel better?:( I hate seeing my baby like this. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
I don't know of any kind of ointment that would be good. If it is swollen you could try an ice pack? Poor thing. those hurt. |
Yes, one of my boyz got bit on the face by a red ant and he started swelling up pretty bad. I took him in to the vet and they gave him a shot of Benadryl and something else but I don't remember what the second part was. The swelling started going down almost immediately and he was fine after that. Is he shaking his paw or is his body shaking? If he is shaking his paw it's probably because it hurts, it's swollen and it is itchy but if his body is shaking that may be from pain or an allergic reaction to the bite. |
Thank you for the responses. Luckily about an hour after I posted this Yogi was fine. His paw stopped shaking and he started walking without limping. His paw didn't even get swollen. It must have just hurt really bad |
