Kudos to your vet for not giving up. A couple of months ago Lil Bit came into the room where I was watching TV - she is usually with Bruce who watches his programs in another room - she was "acting weird". I got up to check her and she just "went down", her back legs gave way. I went and told Bruce, he immediately scooped her up and took her to the emergency vet. By the time he got there, she couldn't stand at all, her front legs had given way. He called me from the vets to say they wanted to keep Lil Bit overnight and wanted her to see the neurologist. They also wanted a $965 deposit. So, he left her at the emergency vets and came home. He was close to tears, he said he didn't think Lil Bit was going to be OK. About 1.1/2 hours later the vet called and said Lil Bit was fine. She was acting normal. The neurologist had looked at her and couldn't see anything wrong. They were stumped as to what caused her problem. Vet said we could pick her up right away as she would probably be more comfortable in her own home. She has been fine ever since. So sorry to hear you have to put Guliver down my prayers are with you. I had to put my beloved yorkie down last January because she couldn't walk very well with her back legs. Then she went into seizures at night so we brought her in and the vet gave us the bad news; a brain tumor. Keally kissed me good-bye and kissed my husband as if to say thank you mom and dad I am too tired to go on. She was 12 1/2 years old but we felt she should of lived forever. It was devastasting to us and all we had was those memories and lots of pictures. We keep her in our hearts always and now we are the proud fur baby parents again as of June 25. We got another little girl and she sure has filled that hole in our hearts and sure gives us alot of joy. Life is short and maybe one day you will get another baby to love. Guliver knows you were very good and loving to him and he will live in your heart forever just like my Keally will. Take care of and think of all the good times you were blessed with Guliver. |

I'm so sorry, I know how you feel. I put my Cocker down last Oct. Be sure to hold him the whole time and tell him you love him. I did and even though it was hard I'm glad I was with him to the end. I'm sorry you have to go through this. :( |
Wow, that's great news!! I should have read all 42 posts before I posted...So glad he has another chance. Even if he does lose the use of his legs, aren't there doggie wheel legs out there? Maybe those would help if he doesn't regain the use of them. Praying for him..:) |

Hi All - Quick update 12 hours after the shot, it doesnt look so good. It seems like he totaly lost control on his leg. If he had 3 other functioning legs, I wouldnt mind, but the other 3 are also weak. My experience today actually made me stronger and I am more willing to accept the bitter end. I dont want him to suffer, he is sitting in his doggy house and can not move. My heart is breaking. Thank you all for your support and heart warming words. It REALLY helped us!!:love: |

So sorry for your loss, i have been through this and it was the hardest day of my life, i felt so guilty for doing it to him. i really believe time is a great healer you prob dont think so but trust me it does get easier and i always think of the good times and not when he was ill. keep strong xx |
Guliver is gone The Vet wanted to try few more days but today he pee and pooped all over himself, and deep down I know it wont get better. I dont want that my last memories will be of him holding his needs until he couldnt take it anymore. I asked the Vet to put him down. I couldnt watch it. Just gave him a warm pet and left the clinic to cry. I asked for private cremation and to get his ashes back, so I can put it somewhere here close to my house along with a piece of his hair that I took. My dear Guliver, I hope you had a wonderful life with me and I am so sorry for all the times I made you feel sad. I love you so much my baby... rest in peace!:littleang |

I had to put my Holly to sleep a few months ago it was the saddest day of my life. I feel so sad I\'m been watching this thread since it started. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Guliver |
I\'m so sorry for you and little Guliver. The decision to end his suffering is the worse one you\'ve ever had to make for him but he knows you did out of your love for him and he knows how deep that love goes. Rest in peace little baby. |
