What wonderful news...Ellie is coming along so well. Yippee!!! |
9:30am Saturday. Talk to dr. This morning.....she's walking great. Has one problem to overcome......she keeps "regurgitating" (his words) and when liguid comes out of her nose, she panics. He says he cannot put the splint on her while doing this because she panics even more. He thinks it's because of several things: 1-she has been given so much medicine it is upsetting her tiny rummy. 2-he had to literally move her esophogus & larynix over to do surgery and that probably upset her entire GI track. 3- She is SO BUSY, wants to see and kiss everyone who comes in the room, wants to walk and be nosey all time, therefore, no rest. His conern is also that he can't put the splint on her (like she had before) because he dosent want to have her throat wrapped and held in that position while doing this regurgitating thing for fear of her choking. He said there is a slight chance she will have to go home without the splint and have to be crated all the time. He decided to just knock her out (I guess with pain meds) to force her to rest today. He is working on getting her GI system calmed down and will call us back later today. Please continue to pray for her. Her mobility again is better than ever and he is very pleased! |

Ellie did eat and no more gi issues. She is doing fine - very "perky" when she is awake. Doing well *Will wait until tomorrow to see if she will be able to be placed in cast. Wants her to rest thru the night to make sure there are no risks in casting her. He will call again in the morning.* If she is stable we plan to drive back to Athens tomorrow afternoon. See the other kiddos. Then drive back early Monday to get her if she is ready to be released. Will keep you posted. We are so anxious to see her! You have all flooded us with such kind messages and the support is incredible. Thank you |
Wishing for an incredible outcome...hoping for only the very best for Ellie and praying for God to look after her, heal her and recover. |
8:30 am Surgeon called, with concerns. Ellie is coughing- a productive cough. Because of her regurgitation episodes he is concerned she may now have broncitis or pnuemonia. She is not eating. But on iv to prevent hypogl. He changed antibiotic to a broad spectrem form. The neck/surgery/walking are all great. This is a separate issue. He said she is not out of the woods yet. She is being watched like a hawk. She will remain in the hospital for a few more days as he treats this problem. We will still go back to Athens Ga today, save on hotel exps and will drive back up as we play this by ear with her recovery. He will call again this afternoon with next report. So we have a new set of specific prayers for lil Ellie to overcome. Thank you. Sherryl, Lynn, Ellie |
Keeping little Ellie in our prayers... |
Sending more prayers for little Ellie. She is such a fighter! |
Ellie sunday pm 5pm sun surgeon call.* Ellie blew out her iv again. Worried she will harm her neck fighting with the iv *He is now feeding her high cal food and liquids by hand. She is accepting it fine. She is doing good with new antibiotic. She is coughing up lots of junk- which is important to do. She is being nebulized and seems to be helping. She is "perky" and she is pink. She if just a hard puppy to try to balance with all issues- but she is accepting everything fine.* Was sad to come into the house without her. We did stop by the hospital on the way out and dropped off her favorite chew bone and her favorite toy "minkie" - her unstuffed mink. We asked them if they would also take photos with our iphone and they did. So now we wait, as God will continue to hear prayers to heal our baby. I cannot wait to get the call that she is stable and ready to come home.* |
Sherryl, I hope you get that call soon. Prayers for your baby. |
I'm still praying for success...be strong Ellie...we're all pulling for you baby girl! |
