3-4 Days Diarrhea HELP!!! Hi everyone, For the last 3-4 days Penny has had non stop diarrhea, and decreased appetite. I have also noticed that she has been eating grass when I take her on walks and basically anytime she is outside. She doesnt act sick, she is still very active during the day and sleeps well at night. We feed her wet food from Purine 3 times a day and she gets snacks in between. When I first got her she had Giardia and I thought that she might have had another outbreak so I took a stool sample in to the vet for an evaluation. The stool sample did not have any signs of parasites or eggs. I have no idea what could be ravaging her digestive system like this. ALL advise is welcome!! |
Has anything changed in her life? She could be having anything from an upset tummy to stress that is causing diarrhea. |
I would take her to the vet. Even if they didn't find anything in the stool sample she needs to get checked. Don't know how old your dog is but if it goes on for a few days there is something wrong. Good luck. |
How old is Penny? Did the vet give you anything for the runny poops? |
Sometimes giardia does not show up in every sample. Same thing with coccidia. It could be either one or neither but I would bring a couple of days worth of stool samples if you can and definitely another vet visit is in order. |
Penny is just over a year old. The vet never gave us anything for the runny poops. I just dropped the stool sample off at the office she didnt go with me. I am going to take her in to the vet ASAP tomorrow. Is there anything I can do for her in the mean time? |

Keep her out of the heat, feed her rice and boiled, skinless, boneless chicken....Pedialyte is also a good way to rehydrate her...that and make sure she's drinking plenty of fluids. |
