Luxating patella Hi, I'm the proud parent of a 3 year old little Yorkie named E-Wee. I've had her since she was a pup and she has been very healthy and active until the last few of weeks. Well I took E-wee to the vet today and she has luxiating patella in both back legs. Her rt. is about 3 1/2 & left about 2 on their scale of severity of 1-4. The vet referred me to an ortho surgeon. I'm more of a homeopathic type person for my animals and myself. So it is hard to just jump right to surgery. But I don't want to have her suffering either. Has anyone had any luck treating this type thing without surgery? The vet seems to think that is our only option. Thanks for any info you can share. rtkbrad |
If the one on her right is that bad, the orthopedic vet will most likely advise surgery. It can prevent further problems later on like torn ACL's, arthritis and bowed legs. Here is a very good article. Medial Luxating Patella |
