Oh...do you have a PetCo near you (not petsmart)? If yes, you may want to pick up some BeneBac - it is a high potency probiotic paste that is meant for times like this, and sometimes it works little miracles. It's cheap, easy to give, and I always keep this stuff in my ER kit. I usually get the "ferret/small animal" size rather than the big dog size.
Thanks, I will stop on my way home from work. I looked in the dog section and didn't find anything so I will check in the Ferret area. I will also give the vet tech a call.

I've seen that in Kaji's poop. It's a nicely formed log and then there is this weird mucousy part. Now I know what it is! I had dismissed it as something funky he got into.

Hey Ann, is there a reason you get the small animal one vs the dog Benebac? Is there a formula difference? I checked for dog Benebac and they didn't have it, so I bought the small animal one only.

I just got some benebac today. I had to go to two petcos. It was $4.99 at the store, online it's less, but you still gotta pay for shipping. i got the small animal one. One tube is for a 5 lb animal, which is almost the perfect dosing of a yorkie.

PS. Hoping for hard logs for Kaji tomorrow.

We got logs today! He didn't poop at his normal hour so when he finally went, it was a MOUNTAIN! (or so I'm told)

Eww! :p I'll take Adi and her bf's word. I don't need photographic proof. I'm still giving him pumpkin in hopes of seeing the proof myself.

Back to the vets again!
 
I had Sophie back to the vets for the third time yestereday! Now she is having a bit of blood at the end of her smushy stools. He has me feeding her the Iams for GI formula kibble. She is not that thrilled but he said she couldn't continue on with just chicken, rice & pumpkin she has been on for a month. He just gave her an anti diarrheal medicine and said keep up with the probiotics. He still didn't culture the poo (said she had so much antibiotics they wouldn't see anything) no blood work or nothing! If she isn't better really soon I am taking her to another vet. This has gone on too long.
Her weight is ok, because when she was on the Flagyl she would have ok stools but as soon as she was off - back to the poo doos. I am at my wits end. She is willing to play, but does seem like she is sleeping a bit more.
Any ideas??:confused::confused:

New vet is what I would do. It doesn't sound like the current vet is willing to investigate further and Sophie isn't getting better. How incredibly frustrating for you!

My two got runny stool last week, but I figured out that it was a new type Bully stick I'd given them. I made some rice and mixed it in with their dry food and it cleard up right away. I threw away the bully sticks of course.

I would definitely go to a new vet and get blood work done. Poor Sophie! :(
