What can I do for a yucky eye? Keeps closing from junk a little yellowish he is7 weeks old. Thought it might be the air conditioner because it got ok yesterday and this morning then the kids forgot to turn off the air and it came back. Could this be the problem? Can I give him anything? |

The breeder cant get to the vet until tuesday. Never saw it before we also have a lil kitten I was thinking he might be allergic to? |
A yellow discharge that closes the eyelids can be a symptom of an infection. I'd also be concerned that he may have scratched his cornea. I would take him to your vet tomorrow. |

I would highly suspect his eye got scratched by one of his littermates. If that is the case, you can't wait until Tuesday. Eye ulcers are very painful plus you don't want to take a chance on him losing his vision. If it's an infection, it is contagious. Do you have an ER vet? |

My thoughts exactly. In the mean time you can rinse his eye out several times a day with plain natural tears. Make sure it's just plain and nothing that says for allergies or gets the red out as those can damage his eye and are Not made for dogs. Also I would get him to a vet ASAP as he could have an upper respiratory infection and if so can turn into pneumonia fast. |
He definitely needs to be seen by a vet asap! If it is an ulcer, as Ladymom said, they are painful and a pup can lose vision in the affected eye if not treated quickly enough. |
He needs to be seen by a vet. I had the same thiing happen with a kitten and the vet gave me an antibiotic ointment to put on the eye and it clared it up and the kittens eye opened |
Right after bathing Kayla one day, she began to rub her eye. At first I thought I might have gotten some shampoo in it. But after I got her dried she could hardly open it. I rushed her up to the vet where they started her on drops 3 times a day. The vet said she had an ulcer. Like someone else they can loose their sight if its not taken care of. It sounds like your baby may have an ulcer. I think the way ours play and scufful around, one of the other ones probaby scratched Kayla's eye. I would just go to the vet as soon as you can. Good luck with that little baby. |
