Breezy has a large abdominal tumor We adopted Breezy when she was 6 to be a companion for our Yorkie, Edie. They love each other. Breezy was throwing up so on Sunday I took her to the emergency vet. I thought she may have eaten something she should not have. X rays showed a LARGE tumor (3 inches by 4 inches) :(and her white blood cell count is very elevated. Bloodwork shows her organs are working fine, and an ultrasound today showed no apparent invasion of cancer into the organs. We could not see what the tumor was attached to in the ultrasound. No evidence of cancer spread to the chest. We are awaiting a pathology report. It is probably cancer, but it might be contained and operable. My poor baby is very uncomfortable, I can tell. If we can\'t operate, she won\'t last long without pain. I feel a lot of pressure to make the right decision. So far, $1400 spent and nothing conclusive. I love this dog with all my heart. I would do anything for her. |
I\'m so sorry to hear this, I feel so bad that you have to go through this. This is definitely the down side of owning pets. I pray you will have strength and wisdom in your decision, and I hope the pathology report has good news for you. |
Many years ago my boy Travis had an abdominal tumor that was removed. The vet said based on it\'s looks he thought it was cancer but the biopsy said it was not. The incision went from under his neck, below his front arm, across his chest, to mid abdomen. The incision was large because it had invaded the chest muscles. My Travis is still alive today, albeit an old man of 16 yrs but I remember the fear of the possibilities. I\'m sharing this to share that their is hope also. We are praying for little Breezy and your family. |
I\'m so sorry you are going through this. It\'s very hard trying to decide what is best for the dog. I truly hope everything works out well! |
I\'m so sorry they found an abdominal mass. :( i hope the path report comes back benign and they are able to surgically remove it with clean margins. |
I\'m so sorry to hear about your baby. Will be sending prayers your way. Keep good thoughts. |

I am so sorry. I will say prayers for Breezy. |
thank you all for your kind words. I am still waiting for results. I will keep you posted. My poor girl is feeling very uncomfortable, and not eating much at all. But she still manages to go chase birds! I am trying to get a fix on how much pain she is feeling, if any. Her white blood cell count is high, and I know she feels crappy. Just not sure if it is pain. I am feeling a little breathless when I think about this...it is like the wind has been knocked out of me. I was up all night just staring at her and wondering how long I will have her with me. I can\'t stop crying. :( |
I am very sorry. I know what you are feeling, and hope the report comes back benign. Stay strong! |
