Still needing help
 

My poor boy is still suffering. I posted my question allergies when I first took him in. I had to take him in again several weeks later as he was still biting, itching, rubbing his head, eating his feet. They gave him another vetalog shot and an antibiotic shot the doctor said binds to the proteins and is slowly released?.
So, 2 days ago, I noticed his eyes were very red and when I got home from work he had a greenish discharge. Took him back to the vet for the 3rd time yesterday.
He has conjunctivitis in both eyes and doctor said his skin was very red. I looked at it and it is more purplish, hard to explain, but no more hives or splotches.
Dr. did a skin scraping, found nothing. He put some revolution on him (he said just in case there is just one or two mites he isn't seeing) and said let's give this a try, we will call you in 3 weeks.
I have one dog on a hypoallergenic dog food, so I told him I am also switching Sachi over as he is so miserable.
It's now a day and a half later and my boy is still itchy and miserable. His eyes are looking better though. I had to give him some benadryl this evening because he wouldnt stop biting himself.
Does anybody have any experience with this? I don't think the vet has any idea what is going on and I can't stand it anymore and don't know what to do for my baby.
Please help.

I am sorry he is still having problems. My Cali has severe allergies that nothing worked for until the vet put her on Atopica. She is 100 % better. She has been on it for 2 years.

Thank you, I will google that to find out more about it. First time with allergies, if that's what it is. Poor boy is miserable. Just a bit upsetting to keep going to the vet's and they can't even figure it out.

My Westie has skin allergies which are very common in his breed. When they first started, he got a skin infection from scratching so much. That was treated with an antiobiotic and a prescription shampoo.

We kind of keep his allergies under control using Zyrtek when necessary; a cortisone shampoo purchased from the vet; little more frequent bathings than usual; and he has to be on the right food.

Right now he's on Blue Buffalo Wilderness and doing fantastic. But I can tell when he's on the wrong food because he will be scratching and digging and biting his paws.

I took Bo to the vet last week because he was constantly itching his hind legs and belly. The vet said his eyelids were red and the inside of his ears were also. She gave him a prescription of Termaril P. The itching has completely stopped. Just thought I would share this with you.

What is that? I have never heard of it before. He's had allergy shots and antibiotics and I believe the doctor said steriod, you'd think we'd be on the road to figuring this out. Your description sounds a lot like Sachi except his ears are fine.
I'm doing the fast track to the hypoallergenic dog food and fingers crossed that helps him out.

When I got home the the vets I googled it to read up on it. Before I give my dogs any medication I always check it out. It is also used for kennel cough. Interesting. He is gonna take it for a couple of weeks and then the vet wants to see if itching comes back. She said sometimes this med. is all it takes for a couple of weeks. I hope so keeping fingers crossed.

Temeril P is used for cough and itching in dogs. It has an antihistamine and also a low dose of prednisone in it.
I have used it on my one allergy pup for a couple of years now without any problems.
