Throwing up reddish sand My daughter just called and my granddog Gidget went to the groomers yesterday and since she came home she has thrown up 3-4 times last night and This morning she threw up like a sand like texture and reddish brown. She said that Gidget is acting nervous she is running up and down the stairs and following Emily around and running behind her almost like she doesn't know what to do with herself. The Groomers allows the dogs to run around while they are there and my biggest fear is she got into something. They said all they gave her were some organic treats:eek: I told Emily to find out what was in them so that she can tell the vet. Emily called the vet and they are booked but they said to drop her off in case something happens she would be right there at the vets. Please pray for her.........Gidget is my first yorkie love she is why I chose to get Pixie and I just love this dog. Poor Emily is a wreck Gidget is her baby she is 4 yrs old. When it rains it pours:( last night with my Pixie and now my Granddog:( |
I'm sending prayers for Gidget! I wonder what the sand like stuff could be? Please let us know how she does at the vet today. |
wow that is odd poor thing. I wonder if it is undigested treat but if yesterday that would be odd. I would get her in and leave her there for observation too as this does not sound good poor thing. She needs to like you said go get that bag of treats if that was all they did Also ask if they gave her ANYTHING to sedate while grooming as sometimes groomers do this to calm the dog down and do not tell owners as have heard things such as this going on Do they have a cat litter box that possibly she ate cat litter ? |
ASPCA | Cat Litter the only thing i can think of that would be sand like is cat litter make sure they xray her to make sure no blockage as cat litter has clumping stuff in some of them and if dogs are running free as well as cats then possibly a litter box she could have got into I would ask groomer about that asap some litter box train dogs too not just cats so either the treat or this - will try to think of anything else |

They did not sedate her at the groomers. I bet it is the cat litter bc I know that can be VERY toxic. She needs to find out what kind of litter they use too bc some are more toxic than others. Gidget is on her way to the vets now, Em lives in SC and how I wish that I could be there for her bc she was already a wreck and my 3 yr old grandson loves that little dog. |

Sending up prayers that Gidget will be okay:love: :hands: |

Could it be blood? Partially digested blood will look like coffee grounds when it comes up. |
Praying Gidget is ok. |
My daughter just called and the vet said that there was no blockage and that he didn't think it was cat litter bc if was very fine. He asked her if they had any sand that she could of gotten into and if she had a grill. Em said my 3yr old has a sand table and we have a grill and then a light went off the other day Gidget was licking the grease from the grill and licking the play sand off the deck:eek: But this was 2 days ago. Anyways he said that she is doing well and that she could go home at 5:00 as long as no other symptoms occurred. Thank the lord:) |
That's good she is doing better and can come home. |
Just reading this. How horrible! I am so sorry for you and your daughter. I really hope everything is ok. :( |
